If I didn't have the 5th wheel, the truck would probably be gone in favor of a Taurus, F150, or Grand Marquis.

Don't think for a second that a F150 is a efficient alternative. If ours gets 12mpg during the winter we are lucky. About 14 is the best we have ever seen with 10 being a low when I hook it up to the boat.

Crumm, the F-150 would be the least efficient alternative. Our youngest son and DIL had a 2006 F150 SuperCrew w/4.6 that they traded on a 2007 Edge. He works for the county and now has a "take home" vehicle, so he was comfortable in giving up his truck. They really love the Edge. Granddaughter (3 years old) loves it too because she can watch movies on the DVD player.

JL - Had I not converted my '97, it would be too expensive to run these days. Fuel here is $3.799. There has to be a limit to what we are willing to pay to keep them as daily drivers. I fully understand your decision and am glad you're not selling it.

you got room in the bed for a gooseneck hitch with that WVO tank?

Yup, there's still plenty of room. It's a 70 gal vertical tank that's only 13.5" deep (by 48" X 26") but I use the bed space differently.

Our Supercrew has a rear entertainment center including DVD but it doesn't help the fuel mileage a bit ;)

God-capital D capital A capital M capital N-it!
I'm flipping the kill switch on this this ASAP.
I put 40 bucks in this thing yesterday morning, went 10 miles down & back to hunt, 7 miles out & back to church, 8 miles out & back to feed store, and 8 miles out & back to go to dinner

fuel gauge is sitting exactly where it was at 5:00am yesterday, on "E"

it better have a crankcase full of fuel, so I can blame it on something..

that's 6.6mpg

lets see 40 bucks is about 12 gallons, and you drove a bit
over 30mi if i read that right, which in a WORST case would
use about 2-3 gallons !

at that...youve probably got the better part of 5g of FUEL
in your oil (which btw i DONT THINK IS POSSIBLE)

Worst I get 'round town (and ive got a heavy foot) is 13mpg...sometimes
12mpg (but thats rare)...I typically see 15mpg 'round town.

Well, at 3.70 a gallon, you got 10.81 gallons for $40.00 then drove 34 miles and its gone. Thats about 3.14 mpg. I'd be :rant too.
