well, here's the latest on the continuing saga...
since Christmas, it's been averaging in the low to mid 13's per gallon...
which although better, isn't really acceptable.

So I broke down today and put on a set of Goodyear SR/A's and checked the wheel alignment. All this was to lessen the drag.

I also changed the oil, and added 5w40 synthetic instead of the 15w40 syn blend I was using...

hopefully less drag again...

While I was doing this, I noticed gear lube leaking through the differential cover, so I had Ford run one over. $35 bucks vs Mag-Tec's ???

So here I am, $1,000 lighter, having twice changed the rear end dope in three weeks... plus a set of baloneys... and a $150 oil change...

hoping I can recoup this investment even this year... and carry on...

I need to get this heap solidly over 16mpg combined.

I just hope switching off my all-terrains was the right move... I think I'm gonna miss my Silent Armors

JLD I hear you about the tires. That's why I opted for the Michelin XPS Rib in stock size with a pure highway tread. Better rolling resistance equals a more efficient tire with regards to better mpgs. But a non M/S tire is not for everybody. They're what ambulances and UPS uses on brown.
