    04 was a very not so good year for the 6.0. You need to have the dealer pull an oasis report on it to see what your up against. Dont let the truck idle is your best advice. Run it hard, and run it often.

    The questionable years are 03-04. 05's were hit or miss, but 06-07 were pretty dang great. 08 model is when the body changed.

    The 6.0's need to be ran hard. otherwise they build crap up in the engine. It needs to tow 10+ thousand pounds here and there. Or just be dogged on a bit.

    See what date it was built. job 1's were Feb 07- Aug 07, 2's were aug-dec. 3's are jan 08 to aug. Job 4's are prob rollin now.

    the 03's will sing to you! Get that cat and muffler cut as soon as possible and you'll be in heaven!!! I almost bought an 03 just for that reason! But for warranty reasons i bought almost new.

    Its actually 1, 2, 3, Torque conv, 4, 5. Your truck will shift 6 times. This is how my 04 was. Anyway, Ive heard of this and a flush will fix it.

    I have an LBZ also and would gladly have my 6.0 powerstroke back. I like the d-max but its not a consistnet engine. One day it gets 20 mpg highway, the next 15.
