I filled up yesterday and got 12.38 mpg on my tank (hand calculated). My onboard computer gave me the same result (12.4). Nearly all the miles were in stop and go traffic in town and lots of very short trips. About 100 miles of the tank were for a trip my hometown (including a long traffic jam of Ike evacuees).

Truck is a dually/RWD with 4.10 LSD.

thats not terrible for city driving, is it getting better? i know some people claim the truck needs to break in before the mileage gets better. i was hearing complaints as low as 6-8mpg, 12 is much better than that.

That was actually my first time calculating. The truck has about 700 miles. Still too new.

I haven't seen that "warning" come up yet.
I was thinking about that too.

My truck has 43,000 miles on it and on a recent highway trip, I got 17.4 on the way down and 18.5 on the way up. Kept it at 65 and I don't have a bed cover (yet...just ordered one).

City driving gets me 10-12, and towing the 5er gets me about 7.

Here's an update- I made an 1100 trip to Virginia to deliver a 2200 pound shipment. I got about 13.8 mpg (calculated) on the way up. I drove about 63 maximum and under 55 at times when the sped limit dropped. All interstate except for about 90 miles.

On the way back (empty) I drove the same speeds and got 19 mpg. I left full in Newport News, VA, filled up near Atlanta, and made it into Slidell La with a bit under 1/2 a tank left. Very nice!

The truck now has 3000 miles.

My MPG (@ 12,500 miles) varies between 13 and 14.5. It depends on whether I'm driving 65 or 75. I will be pulling the 5er next week so I'll be able to see what I get with an extra 17,000 #'s.
