    6.0 upgrades

The OEM oil cooler seems to do the job just fine as long as the coolant isn't plugging it up. I have the Zerex GO5 in mine with a coolant filter system. Remanned FICM and injectors from Motorcraft seem to work well, too. My experience has been good. Some aftermarket parts just don't hold up well...

    Help Needed What to buy??

Part of it is the regen mode raises temps so high that number 8 cylinder can go into meltdown. I think there were other issues related to the same result. I don't remember all the details. Factory exhaust didn't get enough heat out, either.

    Help Needed What to buy??

My best friend has a 6.4, deleted, aftermarket exhaust and it has been doing great. They tend to be great until they aren't. I have talked with diesel techs that tell me the 6.4 is just a timebomb. If you get a good one then great but how do you know?? Personally I would take a deleted 6.0...

    6.0 upgrades

For me I take it in to my diesel guy. I don't have the time, tools or knowledge. Plus, I usually end up botching something and gotta have it done anyway. Money ahead. Without the Ford scanning software it can be chasing one part after another. My hat's off to the guys who can do it all on their...

    6.0 problems

I haven't had any issues like that with mine but like any 6.0 the first strep is a thorough scan. It needs the Ford software to do it. I start with my mechanic that has all the needed scanning equipment if something acts up on mine.

    edge gauges

I have the Edge CTS2 monitor in my '04. Is yours giving any codes? If nothing there I would contact Edge (probably would anyway) and get the truck scanned. I know the 7.3 doesn't have as much going on as the 6.0 as far as electronics but that's a good place to start. Could be a connection or...

    EGR Blockoff Plate?

Wish I knew to help you. I'm curious as well. I'm still rockin' and lovin' my 6.0 but you never know down the road when a newer truck is necessary. Good luck!

    Help Needed Counterfeit or Legit?

That main filter doesn't have the water separator membrane. Don't use it.

    Intermittent Miss/Backfire

The first thing with the 6.0 is it has to be scanned with the proper Ford software or one that reads CAN language. My diesel shop has the the correct software for all of that. Might be cheaper to have a good shop start there than buying it yourself.Sounds like you're pretty good digging into it...

With all the EPA regulations are all of the deletes and tunes even easy to get anymore?? Just curious.

Help Needed First Diesel - One Question

And obviously distilled water is not the right way "patch" the issue. Like was said the leak needs to be fixed. Might be some money up front but will be worth it if the truck will be right afterwards. Mine had some issues from neglect from the previous owner. Nothing critical but needed...

    Perplexed with my 6.0

Too thin would be in warmer temps and I have zero problems in the summer with 5-40. All I have run since I bought the truck in '16. Probably not the issue but I wonder if mixing viscosities is causing it?? Just thinking out loud. Hopefully the scan will tell all.

    Perplexed with my 6.0

Are you mixing oils? 5-40 and 15-40? Synthetic 5-40 alone like Rotella T6 is the best option. Helps the spool valves in the injectors. Injectors could be bad. Have you had a shop with the Ford scan tool scan it? Rule of thumb is to start there. Could show bad injectors without throwing DTCs.

    SUGRING 6.0

On oil and filter schedule, I use 5w-40 full synthetic like Dave suggested and change every 5000 miles. Fuel filters are done every other oil change (10,000 miles). Motorcraft on all filters, I was using Delo 5w-40 synthetic but they changed the oil rating so I went to Rotella T6 5w-40 with no...

    Question Bridgestone Tires

Sorry there's no replies. If you're still looking I would just Google reviews on those on a Super Duty. Ignore the the ones who can't write a coherent sentence or just say "they suck!" For all season I will be going with Toyo Open Country for my next set.

    Just picked up a 06 6L F250

Welcome! Sounds like a great truck. Hopefully it was "grandpa's truck" and not tuned or chipped. My '04 was like that. Not driven hard enough actually and the EGR valve was sooted up and the unison ring in the turbo started to stick after a year. Last summer I got the EGR deleted and already had...

    Turbocharger question

Could possibly be a valve to help to help the warm up located in the exhaust somewhere. 7.3s had that.

    Tire help

8 ply would be bare minimum just on the weight of the truck in my opinion. I always go with 10 ply, load range E. I don't think you'll like the handling with anything less plus you will have a much tougher sidewall against punctures, etc.

    Removing EGR System & DEF

If you can do it, do it. It will only add life to your engine without the heat, regen mode and putting warm exhaust back into the motor. It costs the same to replace the DPF.
