Newbie i purchased my f250 superduty 7.3 4x4 brand new in yr 2000 been running great 250,000 miles

just replaced upper and lower ball joints stub axles hub bearings seals vacuum lines rotors. A couple months ago doing routine maintenance changing out fuel filter water separator element after screwing cap on, started engine checking for leaks gasket blew out sprayed diesel fuel in my eyes and all over engine, during clean up process I used degreaser then sprayed a little water on engine, used air nozzle sprayed excess water off engine, sat in sun for an hour, started engine sounded like injectors were misfiring, they were, after closer inspection the drivers side glow plug injector harness wire insulation disintegrated where it plugs into valve cover, I believe there are 9 separate wires, I sliced small heat shrink sleeves down the sides put liquid electric tape on each wire then heat shrink sleeves over them, so far its working, I then saved up some money for a new engine wiring harness from the local ford dealership, I almost fell over when they told me the price, I have dual alternators, the new harness only has connection for alternator on drivers side top of motor, after looking at alternator on passenger side it looks like wiring goes over to passenger side fender wall maybe to positive side of starter solenoid or battery somehow, I know alternators are wired in series so my question is should I take my truck to a professional to have new wiring harness installed? any suggestions or advice will be appreciated thanks tony tnt

Just wanted to day welcome to the forum and hope you can get your issues fixed.

Welcome. When I'm not confident in my ability to get it right I take it in. I figure I'm money ahead by me not screwing it up.
