CRJ & ERJ A&P Mech.
As I write this, I am still shaking off the anethesia a bit. I'm a little light-headed, kind of like having had a few Beam & Diet-Cokes.
But I have to say, it was no where near as bad as I thought it would be. I highly recommend anyone past the big "five ohh" get one done. The prospect of getting colon cancer is far, far worse than the exam itself.
I was sedated for the procedure, it was like taking a nap. I recall some conversation, but was not aware of what they were saying as well as some very slight sensations of the exam itself. Getting a prostate exam was worse than this. I got a clean bill and even got pics for the kids to prove that there isn't and never was "anything up Dad's ass".
After the exam and I was discharged, my honey drove me home. Having a person to drive you home is a mandatory thing with the hospital. They won't do the exam if you don't have another person to drive you home. Which is a good thing, I was still too light headed to drive.
So if any of you other guys over 50 haven't had a colonoscopy yet, get it done. It may save your life down the road, possibly much sooner than you may think. For you young "kids", if you have a family member or friend who hasn't done so, encourage them to get it done. It might save you the premature experience of having to carry their casket to the gravesite.
