As I write this, I am still shaking off the anethesia a bit. I'm a little light-headed, kind of like having had a few Beam & Diet-Cokes. :tounge
But I have to say, it was no where near as bad as I thought it would be. I highly recommend anyone past the big "five ohh" get one done. The prospect of getting colon cancer is far, far worse than the exam itself.

I was sedated for the procedure, it was like taking a nap. I recall some conversation, but was not aware of what they were saying as well as some very slight sensations of the exam itself. Getting a prostate exam was worse than this. I got a clean bill and even got pics for the kids to prove that there isn't and never was "anything up Dad's ass". :roflmao :lmao

After the exam and I was discharged, my honey drove me home. Having a person to drive you home is a mandatory thing with the hospital. They won't do the exam if you don't have another person to drive you home. Which is a good thing, I was still too light headed to drive.

So if any of you other guys over 50 haven't had a colonoscopy yet, get it done. It may save your life down the road, possibly much sooner than you may think. For you young "kids", if you have a family member or friend who hasn't done so, encourage them to get it done. It might save you the premature experience of having to carry their casket to the gravesite.:thumbs :thumbs

In a van down by the river...
That's good to hear--how did you like the pre-'scope prep you had to do? It must have been fun pretty much living on the toilet for the last day and a half...  :roflmao :roflmao

Actually, I didn't even start the "cleansing" process until about 4:30 pm yesterday. I "fasted" all day yesterday and did the "cleansing" later in the day. By bedtime last night, things were pretty much done.

Overall, the apprehension before hand was worse than the experience itself.

But now that it's over, ALL YOU CAN EAT STEAK NIGHT HERE I COME!!!!:thumbs :thumbs

great something to look forward too !
But seriously, it wasn't that bad at all. Don't put it off out of worry or concern over the procedure.

Everyone of my friends that have had a colonoscopy, have come out good. I have not had one yet, and I am beyond 60, so if I die from colon cancer, it will be a good reason for you younger guys to have the test. I have had thyroid cancer, skin cancer, and numerous surgeries. No more... They have cut on me enough. As you get older you come to the realization that death is much closer.
When you die is up to God. How you die sometimes you can control. Quality of life is better than quantity. I would rather die in my 70's in full control of my mentality, then die in my 80's drooling in a wheelchair in a old folks home.
Don't get me wrong, I totally agree that getting the test is the best for most people, but for me, I have been cut on for the last time.

I must have had another senior moment, because I have to have one more surgery to replace the other hip, but hopefully that will be the last.

Bama; after I go you will have to get here fast.. My wife's relatives will be here to get the race cars, tools, five 428 and one 427 Ford engines and anything else they can talk my wife out of. The 240Z is a V8 with over 400 hp.
