...when you get a colonoscopy....My only discomfort was in my throat where they did the scope of my esophagus and stomach.

You are thinking a little too far north for a colonoscopy. Think further south.

Either that, or he went in a little too far!!

Maxtor, when you get a colonoscopy, you are not cut on. You are "knocked out" with anesthesia, and when you wake up, it's all done. My only discomfort was in my throat where they did the scope of my esophagus and stomach. That was not any worse than a sore throat. As far as any pain, I think the most that I suffered was when they stuck the needle in for the anesthesia. It was about like having an IV put in. You really need to have it done. In my case (and I'm sure others), I went in early (around 7 AM) and was out three or four hours later.

What I meant about not wanting to be cut on, is if they did find cancer, they would have to start cutting. I have a good friend who is 85 and is in very bad condition, his body has just worn out. Doctors have said that two other close friends of mine will be gone in 6 months to a year. They are going through Chemo now, and their quality of life has deteriorated terribly, because of the treatments for other types ofcancer(not colon). Death is a fact of life. When you are 20,30,40, you do not think to much about natural death, but when you get into your 50,60 and 70's it becomes a very real consideration. Knowing that you have only 10 to 20 years left on earth, makes you think about how you want to spend these last years. The most important is knowing that Jesus will save you. The next important thing is to love others as you love your family.
I do not want to live long enough to be sitting in a chair drooling and not being able to control my bladder. I have seen numerous people with that condition. When you get older, you will understand my thinking.
Death with dignity is important to me.
Death from colon cancer is not pretty, so I might get the test.
I have one friend who was bleeding internally from colon cancer, and was operated on and saved. He is still alive now, but without most of his colon.
