Tailgunner got an anesthesia and flowers??? I had my first a few years ago and it was no big deal. I was scared to death and it was over in five minutes without any problems.

Anesthesia was included at no extra charge. :thumbs

Flowers is just vicious rumors and propoganda.

While she was waiting for me, the wife (who is a RN) went upstairs and signed up for a seminar to satisfy her annual Michigan nursing requirements for continuing education.

Ironic thing is the topic of the seminar is "Men's Health Issues".

p.s. The steak meter is reading "full".:p :sweet

I case anybody hasn't figured it out, I had a subliminal reason for sharing all this with everybody. I know there are a lot of you guys who should have had their first colonoscopy by now, but are putting it off out of concern over the procedure itself. By initiating this conversasion, I've been able to share how quick and painless getting the "rectalography":roflmao was, and some have shared how they have lost loved ones because they failed to get one done before it was too late to prevent colon cancer. The general rule is 50 years old unless you have a family history. If any of you guys are due and haven't done it yet, get it done not for you, but your loved ones. :sweet :sweet

Same deal for the prostate exam--it's unpleasant, but since prostate CA is so eminently treatable in its early stages the indignities of the exam are nothing compared to having to deal with cancer.

I've had two: one in 2003 and one in 2005. The second one was done because I went to a different doctor because the first doc had retired. I'm "good" till 2015. As others have stated, the "prep" or "system flush" is a helluva lot worse than the surgery. Both times, they also ran the tube down my throat to check my stomach. The 2003 "scope" found that I had ulcers in the upper part of my stomach and lower esophagus, so I've been taking Nexium every day since then. I did not see (nor did I want to see) pictures of my procedure, I just know that both times nothing was found. So I guess there weren't anyone's heads or anything else up my ---. :D At least when it's all done, you know two things: 1) More than likely everything's okay and
2) At that moment, you're not full of ----! :D Yes, this is a procedure that EVERYONE MUST HAVE, male or female.

......but for me, I have been cut on for the last time.

Maxtor, when you get a colonoscopy, you are not cut on. You are "knocked out" with anesthesia, and when you wake up, it's all done. My only discomfort was in my throat where they did the scope of my esophagus and stomach. That was not any worse than a sore throat. As far as any pain, I think the most that I suffered was when they stuck the needle in for the anesthesia. It was about like having an IV put in. You really need to have it done. In my case (and I'm sure others), I went in early (around 7 AM) and was out three or four hours later.
