What a childish, irrational, and insecure lot. I remember when that artist took a crucifix and put it in a beaker of urine and called it art, or when they had a picture of Mary and flung dung at it. Remember the violent christian reaction? How we burned cars and shot guns in the street and threatened to kill everyone in New York because of the actions of those artists that lived there? NO?
Hmmm, neither do I... Maybe that is because we have this idea of free speech, which is totally foreign and lost on most of the Islamic world. Maybe we are rational and mature enough, and secure enough in ourselves and our beliefs that we can see things like that and feel sorry for the perpetrator, not vehemently call for his death, and the deaths of those like him or around him.
It never ceases to amaze me how violent they are, every day, over the smallest of things. I can't believe anybody actually keeps a working atuomobile for more than a couple weeks before some angry mob lights it on fire over some trivial little slight or injustice. I also wonder how many people are killed on a daily basis from the bullets that must rain from the sky every time the mob takes to the street.
I hope I am not bridging the gap of civility, but to call Islam the "religion of Peace" is a farce. They say that it is only a select few muslims that are causing the problem. Fine, then where are all of the peaceful muslims decrying the acts of these maniacs? Where are the clerics getting online, or on AlJazeera that are calling for moderation, peace, understanding? Where were the clerics that condemned 9/11, the bombings in madrid, in London?
When a religious fundamentalist firebombs and abortion clinic over here, the airwaves light up with Christian heads condemning the dispicable act perpetrated in the name of God. Where are the "peaceful" Muslim clerics condemnations?
I'm sorry, but I am weary of the propaganda being shot about, where people justify the actions of Islam based on past actions of crazy, lunatic fundamentalist Christians. The differences are very clear.
"Christian" fundamentalists bomb abortion clinics after everyone goes home, to make a point. True Christians immediately condemn the act on all fronts, in every available news outlet.
Islamic fundamentalists drive planes into buildings full of women and children, and the true islamists are dancing and celebrating in the street.
It is beyond my comprehension, and saddens me to a level I cannot describe every single day.
