    4x4 Squeek (Vid)

If the axle joints are original, they won't have grease zerks in them. That means that they don't get greased. If they are shot, and the hubs are in, then they will make noise especially when turning. If the hubs are locked, the front driveshaft will be turning as well. Could be a bad...

    4x4

Do you have the hubs locked in? Could be something in the transfer case that is turning with the hubs in and the transfer case in 2wd?

    Spedometer calibration for bigger tires

They want you to do it three times to even out any discrepencies in your roll. You might rol it one revolution, three different times and end up with three different measurements. Possible it makes it more accurate to roll it once three revolutions, to get it right the first time. JMO

    Exhaust for 99 SD

I sure wish i had miter cut stacks on the pete. Maybe someday, when the lottery people call. If i put stacks on the ford, they would be miter cut as well. For me, the aussie tips look like donkey ears. I don't really want to look like a jack@#$. JUST MY .02

    Need advice please!!!!

On my tahoe, i used to isolate the tranny fluid from the radiator, in the summertime. I rigged up a bypass hose between the tranny cooler lines at the radiator. I had valves threaded into the radiator that i could turn to either open the ports to the radiator, or close them and bypass...

    4x4 Squeek (Vid)

If you lock in the hubs, but leave the transfer in 2wd, does it still do it? If so, I'm guessing it is a dry axle joint, or U-joint in the front driveshaft.

    7.3L manual trans

I had mine torn into by a trans shop, and found several teeth missing from 4th gear. The trans shop let me know that the trans was german made and it was an arse to get the cluster gears apart to get to the culprit. they claimed there was a special tool that was needed to accomplish this...

DO's and DONT's of Locking Hubs

You have a slightly different situation than most of us, you have an aftermarket locking differential that "locks" both front tires to each other so they "pull" together when in 4wd. Most "4x4's" really don't have 4 wheel drive at all, they only have 2wd. But it's one rear, and pne front. The...

    Question Starting

Make sure the oils level is full, and check the fuel flilter as well. If the oil is low, it won't fire the injectors, and we all know what a partially plugged fuel filter will do. Always start with the cheapest and easiest first i always say. Good luck

    Growling sound during steering

Whining power steering pumps are notorious on the fords, I have found that a lucas additive made for power steering is the best thing to get rid of the whine, and the jerky steering feel. It sounds as though you may have a leak at the hose or elsewhere, and maybe you've run the pump low on...

    Help Needed Mysterious clunking noise

Better check those axle u-joints, could be that the axle joint is shot and it's turning while your driving somehow? Are you sure the hubs aren't locked in somewhere? Could be that the vacumn system is screwed up and staying engaged, and the axle joints are shot cause their always turning? Axle...

    Question Time for Shocks

Piece of cake to replace, unless the bolts are rusted solid. Should be a couple of hours at the most. The rancho shoks are great if you do alot of off roading, or travel on rough roads. But most don't have the gas charge in them that really smooths the ride on the highway. Most guys on here...

    vibration

Any lift on it? What about the trans mount? Is it nice and tight? Try lubing the slip and splines on the driveshaft, I've seen many fords w/the coating on the splines worn off. Ford thought they were smart and dipped the splines in a non greaseable coating to take the place of grease. It...

    need help

Don't forget to check the brake switch on the pedal as well, if the switch goes bad alot of times it will make the cruise think you're on the brakes. Fwiw. Good luck

    Help! with my steering issue

Unlocked hubs? I agree with JL, if the hubs are in. Did you check the ball joints w/the tires in the air? VERY common problem w/these trucks, as well as the unit bearing(wheel bearing) being loose. Good luck!

    7.3 light throttle = hesitation

What about the ebpv? I wonder if it could be closing on you as you drive, causing a backpressure problem. It has been seen before, and just disconnecting the connector on the pedestal made it all go away. Cheap and easy too. Good luck!

    Tymar prefilter

That's funny, I've never heard of the tymar "dusting" your turbo before. I have firsthand experience with the KnN setup that everyone hates. Is there something I don't know about the DIY tymar?

95 superduty reg cab body towtruck 7.3 turbo

Sounds like a chaffed wire, or wires. Don't be surprised if your back looking at the green wire again. The "bare" spot will move around as you drive, and may short out again. Good Luck

    ?Fuel? from exhaust

Are you sure it's not just water? Water is a byproduct of the combustion process, and after it travels down the carboned up exhaust pipe it can be all kinds of colors when it exits. If you are driving real slow in the snow, and not using the engine much, you're not "pushing" this water out...

    Leaking coolant...kind of strange...

Glad you got it figured out. Remember though, the straight water corrosion problem does'nt go away with repeated use(every day), the water reacts with the metals in the engine constantly. The theory you have about using it everyday, is only good if you were COMPLETELY flushing the water on a...
