    photos Never in my life...

Lol Sure Bama, sure! I saw a pic on the internet of a volkswagen jetta w/ 8 sheets of drywall on the roof! The poor thing had collapsed in a wal-mart parking lot w/ the rockers on the ground. Pretty sure he was going to need some suspension upgrades to get the mess home! Some people just...

    CAT & Navistar Activity

Seems crazy to me to see an icon of diesel engines giving up the market. just goes to show how epa lamo's can stifle even the biggest of players. Too Bad, really, I wonder what the epa will pick on next after they figure out that diesel emissions aren't the sole contributor to their "problem"...

Question Constant power to glow plugs?

Could be a glow plug relay stuck closed. Try removing the wires from the relay, and see if that changes anything. :dunno

Question Constant power to glow plugs?

Are you waiting for the relay to time out?, the glow plugs will always have 12v if the coolant temp is below a certain point. But the relay only works for a short time, then it goes off, and starts to cycle till temp comes up. koeo would start this process even if you don't try to start the truck

    Stupid rear pinion seal

Some pinion seals come with a speedy sleeve, just have to ask at the parts house. It's just a thin metal sleeve that you press onto the yoke to cover up the grove that gets worn into the yoke by the old seal. Not to difficult, but will require you to do another tear down. sometimes you can't...

What really is the best tire dressing?

No I use mop and glo on the dash, keeps it nice and tacky. So the loose odds and ends don't slide around so much. :lmao

What really is the best tire dressing?

The stuff is called tuf shine, it comes in a two bottle kit w/applicator for the tire "clear coat". seems to work pretty well to me, but i'm from the old school. we always just put armour-all on 'em. Let me know what you think, sounds like platinum might already have it! :)

    Tranny service

Did alot of these back when I was still turning wrenches for a living. The solvent is a very mild additive that is used to soften any clutch residue that might be clinging to the filter. If it's like the stuff i was using, it won't harm anything unless you are already to far gone with tranny...

    '99 Ford F350 7.3L Powerstroke

Ouch, that sounds bad. My first guess is a bad head gasket/cracked head or block. diesel in the coolant is not good. My guess is the miss on startup is coolant leaking into one of the cylinders after you shut it off. Probably better get the compression checked in all the cylinders to know...

What really is the best tire dressing?

I found one not long back, at checker, that is a spray, and it remains on there permanately. once it dries it's good to go. I use it on the rubber floor mats in the pete. I don't know what it would do at the carwash myself(I Don't take the hose inside the truck obviously) But I know that it...

Help Needed No Lube in Rear End!

I'm not real familiar with the codes, but I think all 99 up psd's have the sterling axles. obs trucks came with dana's i believe, but not positive. Just use a tape measure on the axle perches, and remember, the wheel bolt pattern on the obs's is just a bit different as well. still 8 lug, but...

Welcome to SDD! And yes, its raining in the south still. I'm sitting in augusta Ga right now, and it's rained on me every day since last Monday, all the way across the country. But at least it's not snowing and cold! To get to the question at hand, sounds like he got air in it when he...

    Couple questions...

Good to know again stroker, I'll be leaving it unhooked then. Unless I decide to use it as a exhaust brake, jury's still out on that one, but i'm leaning that way. Always good to talk to the ones that've done this before, thanks again.

Air Flow to your SD Turbo???

Donaldson is very common in the trucking world, these engines run 24/7 alot of the time-not to mention 1,000,000 miles or more. I'd say they must know how to make a filter, imo

It's not in a bag i can hide in the palm of my hand is it? :lmao:lmao:lmao Do you have to hide it from the neighbors when you walk into the house, so they don't send mcgruff the nieghborhood watch dog after you? Now I like that idea JL, keeps the codes away. Do you think it would be better to tie it open, or just let the exhaust do all the work?

Air Flow to your SD Turbo???

Joe, to give a little more detail on the k&n problem I had, the mass air flow sensor element inside the opening would get a build up of cotton/oil/dirt on it, to the point that it would stop sensing the air rushing by it, and turn on my ses light. To me it looked like I never would have known...
