I was wondering what the factory size tires were from ford, i'm guessing 245/75/16. I have the aluminum wheels and not sure what size those are other than they are 16 inch wheels. anyways i was going to get some new treads and i wanted to go bigger most likely 265's or maybe 285's depending on is they would fit a stock ride height 4x4 f250. i dont want any rubbing issues and how would this impact the speedo and mpg. thanks

235/85R/16 were stock on these rigs. You can get 285's under it, you might have to shim the front bumper out a hair.

I put 285's on the factory rims, but have had issues.

It seems that the 285's are for 8.5 inch to 10 inch rims (width). The factory rims are 8 inch wide. The problem I am having is that I have to lower the air pressure from the recomended to about 30 lbs. This keeps them flat on the road and not like a donut, with only the middle 3 inches of the tire on the pavement. Hard to stop with that much rubber on the pavement...;)
Can't wait for these to wear out!!!:burnit

Just a heads up, not trying to hyjack or nuthin.. Just be sure of the width of the tire that meets up with the rim.

Good luck, and keep us updated, always good to have someone's first hand input!

so 265's would be a better decision, i dont have the cash to get new wider wheels and dont want irregular wear issues either. so...my speedo will read slower right with a taller tire???

so is the factory aluminum rim 16x7??? i did some looking and the 235/85 is not even a half inch shorter than the 265's but the 265's are an inch wider. although the recommended rim width was 1/2 wider at 7 inches to 6.5 width respectively. i'm just really needing some insight so i dont have any issues with stopping or uneven wear. basically will 265's fit. i know other members have larger but it seems its 50/50 if your going to have a problem.
