We have a stray dog in our neighbor that is reeking havoc. It is a sheep lookin' dog. It killed a rooster and hen of mine about 2 months ago.

It keeps tearing up landscape lights at a neighbors house. It leaves big piles of dog

all over my yard and driveway.

All I have to scare it off is a Remington pellet gun (which I just got a shot off at it on my back porch)

The animal control has been called out 6 or 7 times and cannot catch it.

I have thought of the anit-freeze antidot, but because of my kids and other pets of ours, I don't want to take the chance.

My neighbor across the street has diligently kept a watch out for it and got a couple of shots off at with his shot gun, but to no avail.

Any other simple solutions?

How 'bout some sort of baited live trap?? :dunno:dunno

Once you catch him, tell animal control to come get him.

My first choice would be a well placed shot from a .308, the legal and not get you in trouble route is probably the live bait trap or befriend and call animal control route.

I would tell your neighbor to be a better shot...:tounge I would go with the live baited trap your animal control should have them for you to use. Most times you have to go get them and set them your self. Chance are that dog lives with in a 1/4 mile or so from your house.

I don't know what your laws are there, but here. I you call the cop and tell them you were chased by that dog, then they will look for the dog and take care of it.

Any ideas on how to make a live bait trap?

Or how should I go about it?

This dog seems to be very intelligent and elusive.

My dad rigged up his fenced in yard as a "live trap" one time and it worked quite well. He rigged a small rope to the gate through some eye bolts so when pulled it would shut the gate (latched automatically). He then routed the rope back into the yard and tied a piece of meat to it. The stray (a rottweiler) went into the yard through the open gate, found the meat and when he tried to make off with it, shut the gate on himself. Of course that made an easy target to finish off since the yard was fairly small. A .22 rifle did the trick. He got rid of the body and left the collar on the guys porch. :innocent
