Quick question, I have heard that with some tuners it does not allow you to make power when its cold?
I put my sct from performance to tow, it was cold and not warmed up. I left for work. when i got out of the driveway and gassed it the tranny slipped and motor revved right up as if it was a clutch and i stepped on it and gave it gas?
It was then perfect after that. tonite i put it on performance to drive home.(again cold) it slipped again. only once then perfect. Is this a fail safe?
or is it not supposed to do this?
thanks:stir :stir

I had the same issue before I put the SCT tuner in. I dont think its the Tuner. What I did was increase the shift pressure a bit with the tuner and I didnt have that problem any more. I do think there is an issue with the 06-07tranny. Sounds like your riding the clutch. I think the torque converter is not hooking up. I run the Extreme tune all the time. 14 Below the other day and it started and ran like a champ. Plugged in of course.

the issue is you SHOULD NOT be able to "make power" before
everything is up to operating temp !

you should NOT be hammering on the truck until its warmed up....
youll end up breaking ****

Well........that answer is a little rough around the edges but........it is correct.

DO NOT hammer on the throttle until you are up to operating temperatures. The engine oil is still cold.....thick and not moving well.

Regarding the tranny if it is flaring is very likely that your clutches are slipping due to lack of pressure or worn out parts which is NOT GOOD. It may or may not be a temperature related problem.

When I had Superchips program years ago I sent it back for tranny line pressure adjustment programing.

I understand you guys. I dont pound my truck or promote pounding on a cold truck. The issue here is a tranny you both arent familiar with. I have had my truck to the dealer twice for this. There was no worn parts. When this started there was only 2000-3000 miles on my truck. It is also something that happens intermittantly. The tune is not failsafing the tranny. The tune is not causing the issue. My point was that I run a tune all the time in cold weather and it is not doing what melmount said his was. Sorry if I stated this a little confusing. If you ride in the truck when its happeneing its a little different than a clutch slipping but that is the easiest way to describe it. It is more like your starting out in the wrong gear and the rpms climb but it really never hooks up to move the truck the correct speed. Its hard to explain. Once you get it to hook up by gassing it a bit it stops doing that and runs perfectly fine. Once I increased the line pressure with the SCT tuner the problem has never happened again. When I go back to the stock tune there it is. Problem is when you take it to the dealer it doesnt happen and they will tell you nothing is wrong.

thats the issue, never ever did it with the truck stock. i installed sct it did not do it at first. only did it when i changed programs without going tback to stock first(if need be???) I just changed power settings. I did increase the line pressure to 5 percent, first notch upwards in setting.
Its never dont this stock. only dont it twice when program was first installed,
did not do it again til i changed settings and then ran it in the am. never ran it with changed settings. I changed it late nite and then went in. next morning it slipped. 2 times. Once on each setting. i am caling sct monday.
I did increase pressure. not sure, but no way worn out 8k on truck. perfect when stock. i have not abused it ever. I was curious when setting of power are changed do you have to return vehicle to stock, then put a setting?

No need to return to stock when reprogramming. Just increase the line pressure 5% and do not change the torque converter lock up leave that stock. Check firmer shifts and that should fix it. it did in mine. If it doesnt then call SCT. They can get you a custom tune to fix the issue. If not try innovative deisel they will definatly help you. I am running there extreme or race tune and I love the power. I have literally smoked new mustangs and those little Jap tuner cars at the stop lights. My boss has a 67 mustang and suposidly runs 12.50 in the quarter. I sucked him up in a 1/8 mile with my stock tires in 4x4 . We ran out of room so its hard to say i would beat him in 1/4 but he was pissed and i know he is working on rebuilding his motor again and said he didnt have a good set of gears. I just smiled and said OK.

and you cant fault a dealer for that....
its hard to diagnose something that isnt providing
a symptom.
