Plowing Snow

At work i use a 2006 Ford F-550 Powerstroke flatbed to plow snow. Normally have no complaints about the truck, has good power, hauls a ton, and can go down the interstate at 75 no problem loaded down. Today was the first day we used this truck to push snow. Nothing but a pain in the a**. I had two units of 3/4 inch T&G OSB on for weight and did nothing but spin. No traction what so ever. Was just wondering if anyone else has had this same problem or if it was just a fluke thing.

I've done some plowing in a Dually F350 with a Reading body installed and tore up the lots.

What do you have for tires? are you chaining up?

They are just stock tires on the truck. I understand they are nothing more than highway tires, but it is a company truck and I had no say on how the truck was spec'd out.

is that 2 sheets of plywood, OR 2 bundles of plywood for weight?

Two units of plywood 110 sheets and the truck is a 4x2.

But the 2000 550 we had was also a 4x2 and we never had problems.

If it continues to have traction issues have em kick down for a set of V links since you're stuck with bone stock street radials

i got 4w and put 500# worth of sand bags in back and a 9' snow shovel up front and i could push a house. no issues. no complaints. stock everything...

by the way, i only use 4 hi and have only used 4 low 3-4 times. way way too much low end grunt to plow with. feels like it drives like a D9, even though i have never driven a D9.
