another update.

the tech workin on my truck just 2-way'd me and told me that he had everything put back together, cranked it up, and it has an exhaust leak at the Y-pipe that connects to the turbo.

he did say that when he was putting the turbo in, he must have bumped it and it broke, BUT, he does have another Y-pipe, and there will be no cost to me for it.

SO, maybe i will have my truck by late this evening or tomorrow.

:(

HUMMM...well that would certainly reduce the spin up of the turbine...since
its on the PRE turbo side...

bush, the y-pipe wasn't broken when this second turbo came out. it got broken when he was puttin the ford turbo back in.

the Y-pipe broke in the flex area.

understood...and this is a common area for cracks too, so im not
a bit surprised that it broke...good on 'em for admitting he did it
& that its not gonna cost you.

well, i have more bad news. turns out, it actually was not the Y-pipe, it was the elite diesel up pipe that i had bought that broke around the flex area.

called up elite diesel and told them that their part failed, so i will be sending it back to them for a full refund and the S&H too.

good thing i saved the original OEM up-pipe, cause it will be going back on tomorrow. i am gonna try and see if i can get the scoop out, so not as much hot exhaust air will be goin thru the EGR cooler.

trail and error i guess. all this crap sure is a pain in the but.

and i am sure there will be some of you that will give me the old saying of

i told you so" thats ok if you do, let me have it.

WOW!:sorry

What did Elite say about their pipe failing? Could you take pics of it before sending it off? I'd like to see exactly what failed, just curious.

:sorry about all the probs, hopefully everything will go better with this turbo.

and you probably EXPECT ME to be the one that says it...

I feel for ya...just want your truck to run & run right...sorry
youre having to even MESS w/ it, much less go thru the pain
and suffering of being w/out or doin' the testing/trial & error.

we'll all learn from youre testing just the same...nothing ventured
nothing gained ! hang in there !
