I needs me some advice. Fixin to buy a new (to me) camper. Its a 1994 9.5 Lance 480. It is in excellent condition, and it is an excellent deal. The only problem is that the electrical will not work (currently) with my beast.

SECTION ON HOOKUPS DELETED... I AM JUST GOING TO USE A REGULAR 7-PRONG, AND RE_WIRE THE CAMPER...

Okay, here is where I get all technical and such

I need a hot wire to recharge the battery when the truck is on. Where can I get a hot off of my truck? The rest, I can do myself, but I need to know where I can get a Lance hookup.

Thanks in advance

ALSO, and this one is probably most important...

DOES ANYBODY KNOW IF A 1994 LANCE CABOVER IS TALL ENOUGH TO CLEAR THE CAB ON A SUPERDUTY??? I've heard rumors that they may not be. If so, by how much? Can I shim it up by putting a layer of 2x4's in the bed? I guess I could get Jerry (the current onwer) to measure for me. But it would be easier to have someone chime in and just tell me what they know...

So I'll need to put a layer of 2x4's in the bed to shim it up, huh? That totally sucks. I'm bummed.

I beleive the relays must be installed for that to work, if they are not already;)

Where is this circuit? Right now, the trailer wiring on my pickup is missing a hot wire, and I do not know where the trailer batt charge circuit is...

Hey Hoss... Yer guna like that Lance. I had a 91, 11.5, on a 91 DRW. Left it permanently mounted on the truck (so I could Beat the wieght fees, here in Caly),Put 165K on both, sold the Lance, bought a FW. The Lance is still in as good a shape as it was.. NEW... Miss the thing.

Anyway... What robert said, as far as the electrical goes. On the Will It Clear ? Prolly not.

What I (we) did for the guy I sold it to was: Built a Grid type platform, out of 2X4s that lined up on EACH ridge of the bed. Screwed & Glued it together, counter sunk the screws so they would'nt "Work" on the bottom of the Camper, covered the whole thing with 3/8s Marine Grade plywood. Gave him the rubber Camper mat.... laid it in, put the grid on it, mounted the Lance... I see it now & then, talked with him once, NO problems.... He has left it on his DRW since 2K, when I sold it to him. (beating the Wt Fee's also)

The guy yer buying it from prolly Knows the Ropes, but if theres anything I can help you with ? Le'me know.

Does your truck have the 7-pin from the factory? If so the flip cover will tell you which is for trailer battery charge. Under the hood on the passenger side of the underhood fuse block is another black plastic cover that has relays, or should anyway. If there are no relays installed, I'll look under my hood tonight and shoot you the relay part numbers:sweet

No. The previous owner did a real frankenstein job wiring up the trailer wiring. He tapped into a wire that runs up into the hood from the engine compartment to get a hot (and didn't do a very good job, because it isn't hot anymore). I have re-wired it all since, but did not run a hot wire because none of my equipment has needed it to date.

So then that is where the trailer wiring comes from? Which one is the hot wire, so I can run it properly?

IF your trailer tow relays are installed (thanks bryan)
there is a set of big electrical connectors on the frame rails, (dont quote me)
if your laying on your back under the truck drivers side l head towrds engine. look to your right, just about a foot or so you will see a few connectors, (that feed back up the fender liner to the battery and power distribution box)

in that bunch of conectors is the wires that feed your trailer lights, and 12V+ to your trailer connector thats near the rear bumper.
its a big fat wire feels like 10 or 12 gauge stranded.
use a test lihgt or meter but you can tap there for HOT with key on eng running, provided said relays are in the distro box

Also the big fat bundle on the cab floor has a few feeds in it for cab interior lights,
I would ask bill real nice , i bet he has the schematic we need
:sweet
