We have automatic idle increasers in the ambulance. It is activated when you depress the parking brake. It is used because of the high demand for electricity and extra cooling or heating when we have a patient in the back..

Why did you install it on your truck? Why do you need to raise the idle?

short answer: cuz i didn't have one (factory automatic - yes) and i wanted one. we get cold winters here and to be able to start it up and hit switch which ramps up to 1200 rpm's, hit the heater, come back in 2-3 min. she is pretty warmed up. factory hi idle only goes to 1000 maybe. also eleviates normal idling at long lines (bank, drive thru, some stop lights, short run ins to a store). i also run a plow and 6 head strobe lites - good to keep up charge.:sweet

I added this a while back but I don't remember anything about a resistor! What size and where is it supposed to go? What is it supposed to prevent or help?

Thanks
Scott

you are asking the wrong guy. electronics and me don't get along. i once saw white stars for 1/2 hour (wire cutter knicked the hot lead). my brother read over the instructions and said i need a resistor. i said back to the store. the guy at parts store only asked if we needed a 4 prong or 5 prong. we got the 5 - only did use four. it just looks like one of the black fuses/resistors in the fuse bank under the panel. follow the directions, pretty simple, it tells you where in-line it needs to go. as for what it does, again, wrong person. maybe someone else can chime in on that - budro, powerboatr, anyone???
