and tell me what you think

http://media.putfile.com/powerstroke ,this vid is about 7 minutes long.you will be listening to my truck run.hopeing somebody can give me some ideas as to whats wrong with it.in this video i was unplugging injectors as it was running.

and here is a vid of a cylinder contribution test.its about 4 minutes long.for those that have never heard a CCT run before and yes it passed the CCT.

both of these vids were one video that i chopped up to try to make it a little more dial up friendly.:dunno :dunno :dunno -mad

I can hear that clicking you were describing to me the other night. it does not seem to be contsant like if it were a rocker arm, Does it go away when a certain injector is unplugged? also can you pull the push rods for an individual cylinder and unplug the injector to see if the sound goes away from like if it were coming from the rocker assemble or something along those lines. also yours sounds like it runs about as rough at mine at times, sometimes mine will idle rough like that and sometimes mine runs really smooth

At times when mine is idling I can watch my radio antenna shake about 1-2 inches and other times it runs perfectly smooth.

How come your engine pulls way down like that when you let off of the pedal and it sounds like it goes below the set idle speed and then brings it back up?

the real low idle is my economy program.it does that when i switch from high idle to the economy program.the tick/clicking noise doesnt go away when i unplug injectors but it sounds like it may be the idler pully for the belt.i have a new pully just havent put it on yet.

i noticed the clicking before i read mud's reply.

it may be the ambient noise around me (ceiling fan, bugs, dog, etc), crappy laptop speakers, etc but that click does not sound like an internal engine noise. it would say it almost sounds like an accessory making noise like the alt or a/c or something along those lines.

you said idler- are the bolts snug on it? water pump new or used?

donut crumbs bouncing around?

CCT- does the truck almost die when you are doing the CCT as it turns off cylinders?

i counted 10 cycles of idle grunting return? maybe i can not count ...

i need to try it on my truck one of these days.

all bolts for the idler and tensioner are tight.but i do know the bearing in the top idler is junk.the reason i have a new one.new water pump.

no donut crumbs, but could be some spilled mountain dew somewhere :D

while doing the CCT the PCM bumps the idle up a little.it doesnt almost die but the idle drops a little.the PCM is looking for how fast the idle drops and how low it drops and how fast it picks it up.it has to do this in a certain amount of time and drop a certain amount of RPM in a certain amount of time.

next time i run a CCT ill point the camara at the tail pipe so you guys can see and hear the exhaust.it kinda wierd to listen to it.

for the CCT(cylinder contribution test) to run you need some type of scanner to do it.what it does is shut down cylinders and over fuels them one at a time and measures how many rpm and how long it takes to drop the RPMs and pick them back up.it tests for bad/weak injectors and low compression cylinders.if you suspect an injector you swap it with another cylinder and if the fault follows it you need an injector.if not you have a bad cylinder.
