Get Guages first... EGT, Boost, Trans Temp if you don't already have them.

Intake + exhaust + chip = best bang for your buck unless you plan on upgrading alot of things. Fill in your signature and let's see what we're working with. See my signature for an example.

Like Maintain said the next step after the pyro guage would be a down-pipe, straight exhaust and intake. DPPI offers a nice down-pipe. You can build your own open intake or order a pre made system.

DIY Intake System. Guages can be had at a number of the vendors listed in our advertisers index, you just need to browse around a little bit and figure out what you want to go with. "A" pillar mounts, Dash mount, under dash mount, color of gauge face etc etc..............

by building my own intake how is this going to help is it not going to be pulling alot of hot air off the motor instead of cooler outside air

It is going to help by allowing less restriction in the intake. The stock intake system is very restrictive. The temperature difference between outside air and the area behind the battery has been discussed in depth and most feel that it makes a minimal difference. If you want cooler air you can build a system that will direct cool air from the front of the vehicle to the air cleaner..

Down pipe and intake made the biggest difference on my 97 PSD, the stock down pipe will scare you!!!

The fuel pressure will do little if anything HP wise, it may smooth your idle a little.

You've got to get some guages in there soon, I melted the #7 piston in my 99 PSD running a Superchip programmer. They will get hot! I would suggest a pyro and tranny temp minimum, but if you have a few more $$$ (about 50) add a boost guage too. Keep the pyro under 1250-1300 and the tranny under235-240. Boost guage is mostly a toy but it will tell you if something is wrong, ie leaking somewhere or turbo is going south!

you can skip the trans gauge with a 5 sp. I put in a fuel pressure gauge instead. Boost for us is pretty low - I hit 13 if I romp pretty hard and you could see a little more (very little) if you REALLY get on it hard.
