I just drove 454 miles from southern Indiana to Milwaukee, WI and averaged 21.3 mpg on my 6.7 liter F250. I could only be happier if LSD was $2 a gallon.
That's great!!! As the truck gets broken in, your mileage should increase. As Dave asked "how fast were you going?". When I had my 7.3, I tried to keep the rpm's below 2,000 (70 mph), although it was tough at times depending on traffic.

Just picked up a 2011 leftover 250 cc/sb 4x4 yesterday. 3.31 gear. Still on the first tank (266 miles total on the truck) and avg mpg is 20.6. No interstate driving, all county roads in the adirondack mts of northern NY. I'm hoping the comp is close. :D

Now if Ford would put a diesel in a 150, you might see 30 mpg. Some people are getting 25+ mpg with the EcoBoost V-6, so it could be possible, if they'd "wise up" and build it.

Hey guys (girls?) I'm new to this forum and am a member of the 150 Forum and am an owner of a 2011 EB Platinum. To answer Silver Stroke, there are many EB drivers that are not getting any better than what you all get with your PS diesels. Many of us are getting 13 to 14.5 mpg average around town and not much better on the road. Causes have been suggested range from water in the turbo's, gasohol, and driving over 60mph, yes, sixty. I am seriously considering purchasing a 2012 PS now before the '13's come out since there are some serious money being offered and good interest rates (4000 and 2.9%) plus I can get a good price from my Ford dealer. The F150 EB does have some great towing capacity and torque for a gas-burner. I am in the process of, within the next year, retiring and moving from Arkansas to Kansas. Every time I head north I pull a trailer full of crap and when I do, my EB gets horrible gas milage, 12-13 mpg. My boss has a 2010 Cabela's and he really likes it. He has been a PS owner back when they were the 7.2, and has always had good luck except for one which had a transmission problem.

In your humble opinion, do you think that it is a wise decision to scrap the 150 EB for a PS just to get better gas milage since diesel is always going to be more expensive than gas AND with the requirement to add a can of piss to the exhaust which adds to the operational costs. I'm relying on you gentlemen (ladies) for your honest opinion, so let 'er rip. I really prefer the 250, it rides better, its quieter, and I think it is a better truck.

I just turned 40K on my 2011 F250, Crew Cab 4x4. I average 17 with mixed driving and about 19 on the highway @ 70 to 75 mph. My best on the highway is 21.3 mpg. If I didn't have the DEF it would probably increase 1 to 3mpg. The torque is awsome. I get 12mpg pulling my 29' camper. The 07' Toyota Tundra I had before would get 15 in mixed driving, 18 on the highway and 6 pulling the camper.

SuiteHauler: Have you towed a fifthwheel trailer yet? Just wondered because I have a new Ford F-250 Supercab Lariat 6.7 PSD on order, and wondered how the new unit handles the job. I have a 2001 Ford F-350 SuperCab with the reliable 7.3 with tow package & have pulled our 40' Designer 12 times to the Fla Keys and back to our campsite on Patoka Lake near French Lick,In with no issues and fuel mileage in the 13 mpg range for these trips. The 2012 F-250 is rated at 16,000 lbs towing--much more than the 2001 F-350 7.3 PSD---Do you think the new 2012 F-250 with the new 6.7 PSD and 6 speed tranny will do the job as good as my 2011 F-350? Thanks for you help--

Your new truck should have no problem. You'll get better fuel milage if you only use the tow/haul mode for the transmission when you're in hilly terain. Use "normal" mode when you're in flat country.
