Checked my driveline angles today. I have a 4" skyjacker lift. I used a procomp carrier shim kit, b/c it allowed me to select in 1/16" incriments how much I needed. I'm running 7/8" of carrier bearing shim, which is PERFECT. the 2pc driveshaft is 0-.5*; as close to straight as you're going to get. the Tcase is down at 8* and the pinion is up at 12*!!!!!!!! That pinion is supposed to be 0-2* below the Tcase!!!! so I need some 4-6* of shimming on the rear axle. where can I get shims? ford? I know I don't want aluminum shims.

Yer lift kit should have came with axle shims. If not go talk to the place where you ordered yer lift kit and they will be able to hook you up. I know my pro comp lift came with the shims.

Keep in mind you don't want them all to be in a perfectly straight line, in order for the needle bearings in the u joints to do there job and last as long as designed for, the driveline needs to have a slight angle at each u joint, so as to allow and force the needle bearings to spin and lube themselves continuosly, even a bone stock truck won't have them all "straight"

Back in the muscle car days (before I was born), mopar would actually set the engine and transmission off center (to the passenger side I think) to accomplish this same effect, while ford and gm just tweaked with the driveline angle's a little, and still do.:sweet

I dont know what a stock truck angle is but you may want to find one and compare. With that small of a lift you are probly just fine if there is no driveline bind.

the front U-joint operating angle is about 2-3*. the center carrier operating angle is 0-.5*, the rear U-joint op angle is 2-3*. All have plenty of angle to keep lubed up. either way, the pinion is NOT supposed to be pointed up 4* more than the tcase:rant

Pinion angle

Did they give you a tapered block or a flat block?

gave me a tapered block. and the tall side is toward the rear; pointing the pinion up. I have a feeling flat blocks would have worked better. or even turning the tapered blocks around.

They should have gave you a flat block. I've flipped the tapers around temporarily but I don't like doing that.

SO, in what application would the tapered blocks be suited for? I have a 156" wheel base. crew cab regular bed. with the F250 OEM blocks.
