id be interested in seeing some photos of these filters.

in my experiance the wix/napa gold filters WERE the same early on
and then changed in manufacturing material and process changed...even
i have stopped using the wix/napa golds.

the fram filters ive found (at walmart) are exactly the the same as
the motorcrafts (also available @ walmart)...15 & 19 bucks.

the wix filters were about 5 bucks several years ago as i recall.

i discovered the wix & napa golds were different in HEIGHT, their
center was constructed using a plastic TUBE (rather than
exposed filter material) and they were built APSENT of the felt
gasket/ring on the base

initially i ignored these filter construction differences...until i
noticed it takeing considerably LONGER for the oil pressure
to register on the gauge !

#1 I wish I could put pics but the site wont accept them. #2 I bought the wix filters about a year and a half ago and still have some. If the costruction has changed it is new to me I put them side by side with the motorcraft filters that I have and there the same size NO plastic tube and they have the felt gasket. #3 Fram makes the motorcraft filters Check it out you may be suprised to find out how many parts including filters are manufactured by the same company and just relabled.

I'm sure most of us have seen this study

Oil Filter Study

It does pertain to gassers but
for the four bucks every 4 kmi.

I'll stick with FoMoCo.

Thanks for all the links.

I also by the Rotella 15w40 and MC FL 1995 oil filter cost about $48-$50. Last time I went to the dealer a few years back, they got me for almost $140.00

Thats what convinced me to do the oil changes myself after that.

This might piss you guys off but I went to Jiffy Lube and watch there everystep changing my oil! They put 14.5quarts of Delco Chevron oil and it only cost me $57.00 out the door! I looked at the filter they used and matched it to mine look the same to me, I just dont remmember the Mfg. But i thought the price was great for my oil change 6.0 diesel. I had no problems!

I saw the TS oil, must admit it is a good price, never tried it using Rotella T 15w40. Who makes the diesel oil for TS?

You should always use an OEM filter. There are other places to save a buck. I use Chevron oil formulated for diesels and it cost me 80.00 for oil and filter.

I also printed this and laminated them,

some good info, im curious why they remove the remaining fuel in the
engine mounted fuel filter base...its typically not enough to matter and
the new filter soaks it up anyway.

as for the oil change ref. the 15qt refill spec is TOO MUCH...the empty
capacity of our engines is 15qt. when you drain the oil .92 quarts
of oil remains in the hpop reservoir.

Page 25: Lubrication System

somewhere be 14 & 14.5 quarts on the refill after an oil change is
PLENTY and will prevent 'surging' going down the road.

fram and motorcraft filters (available for 15 & 19 bucks respectively
at walmart) are side byside comparison EXACT in size & construction
material.

I am not sure. The diesel looked a little milky.

I have seen problems with aftermarket filter in my 20+ years as a mechanic. Plus if you have an engine failure and Ford sees an afrermarket oil filter it could void any engine warranty.

agreed...but im telling you the motorcraft (oem btw) & fram filters
at walmart are EXACTLY the same...neither has a name stamped on
'em...they are marked the same...pat. number etc...and at 19 & 15
bucks (respectively) theyre a LOT less expensive than the 39 bucks
a dealer charges for the SAME (motorcraft) filter !
