Bypass Oil Filters

FS-2500

I emailed Filtration Solutions a week or so ago. They mailed me a big packet of pictures, literature and a cd-rom with the videos on it. I tend to be skeptical and leary of marketing. However, if the video demonstration is legitimate, the FS-2500 kicks the Amsoil and Fleetguard filters hands down. All the stuff they sent me, and their is no picture of the actual filter element. If anyone has one, I would like to see it.

I think those are the key words. I bought the Amsoil and like it, but I just put it on so I don't have any quantifiable proof of how well it does or does not work. Time and Blackstone will tell how successful it is--and nothing else.

I don't think it makes sense knocking products that other guys are using--and are happy with.

I did a little digging on the side, and there are a lot of similarities to the FS2500 and the Oil Gaurd / Racor product. It's interesting that they both use a layered filter technology, and both claim the same filtration level. Racor uses a string wound filter and FS uses some kind of a ribbon it looks like from the other video. I find it interesting that they won't really show the element.

Anyway, I would put a lot of faith in the Crew at Racor and Parker, they've been doing hydraulics for a very long time. I'm probably going to fly with the racor product. Cost is less, and there are more competing distributors. So elements and parts should be easy to come by.

I have 356 miles on my truck tonight, and I've just about run one full tank though it with the front hubs locked in. I checked the oil just for curiosity's sake and I was floored to see the oil looked like it was totally brand new. Actually my first reaction was shock because I couldn't see it on that screwy dipstick they now use, I thought it was way low. Is that normal for it to be this clean? I've never had any engine run this clean, gas, diesel, tractor... I'm impressed.

My father-in-law works at SWRI in San Antonio where they did the testing of the FS 2500. I havent asked him about it yet because it is so expensive. I have pretty much decided to go with the OilGuard unit because it is less than 1/2 the cost. I have read a ton of threads comparing the two, and I have done my own digging. I have yet to come across anything justifying $525. FWIW.
