personally, I'd buy a crate motor, go through it (head studs, egr delete, blah blah blah) and THEN put it in the truck to minimize the downtime.. would be less expensive, too.. BUT..
it wouldn't have the "cool" factor of a new 450...

I thought I saw somewhere you can buy a performance crate 6.0 from some performance company. You'd think a Ford crate motor 6.0 would already have headstuds installed since they know thats one of its downfalls

A lot of nice low mileage F-450 on Ebay.
So far my F350 does the job I ask of it
so I will be staying with it for a few more years.

But I jus' went home and Fondled my Pink Slip'n.. got over it. ;):)

The 'ol 2K does a Real nice job. SOTP sez: he's got lotsa miles left.

Wanna buy a nice F350, JL? :lmao

Yeah, it looks like I'll be making a call in the morning, provided I sleep on it ok tonight :D

It's an oxford white, Lariat w/ ultimate pkg, black leather seats, FX4, etc, etc, etc

Hope you made the "right" decision. Most of the time, if you still want to do it after sleeping on it overnight, it's usually a good decision. Many years ago, I heard a preacher say that every time he got ready to buy a car, he prayed about it. There was one or two that he bought over the years that he didn't pray about it and they got wrecked. The ones he prayed about lasted a long time.

Hope you get the truck of your dreams. At least your repair bill will go away.

I am not sure about the pic's, but he will have a sales contract in hand.

Dave :D

Nope not yet :lmao

The dealer in Chicago has the one we picked out at a show, they said to call back Monday. Salesman is gonna check into a few other ones in the morning. Dealer transfers can get sticky. Beats waiting for one to be built though.

Was down at the Farm Tech show this afternoon (30 miles away this year) and got to check out the cutaway of the new 6.7L. I was impressed. My wife was amused by me drilling the reps with questions, they were pretty good, only a couple minor slip ups (I let em go on them) The one guy said he drove a 450 from detroit to Texas, got 20-21 mpg running 60-62 mph, a little less further south when the roads cleared up (it was last winter). I really wanna believe the guy, but I just can't YET :D
The fuel system is going to be a piece of cake to upgrade once the aftermarket gets going, external fuel pump, rails and lines. Injectors come right out the top. Not that I'll be doing and MODS for a while :innocent
