Not to beat a dead horse guys but those of you that drive a 6.0 what kind of fuel milage are you getting? no bs numbers ok guys. i need real world numbers that have been acurately calculated. My dad is looking at buying an 06' 6.0. hes having a hard time deciding because even though he hates most of his dodge he cant gripe about the 19.5 to 20 mpg he gets and its lifted on 35s and rolls on the scales at about 9000lbs. so anybody that drives a 6.0 please let me know. Thanks doug :thanks

I'll second that,
3:73 rear extended cab 8' bed 285/75/16 tires 15-16 highway, and walks up anything.

I don't think an 8 cylinder can compete with a 6 cylinder for mileage. I've seen plenty of guys posting that they get highway mileage in the 20's, but the BEST I've seen is 22 on a flat road at 55 MPH (farm country). Jump up to 65 and I'm down to 17 or 18. 75 and it's 15 or 16. :2c

Dually, 4:10 gears 12 to 13 mpg on the highway (once I got 15.6?:dunno ) running 80-85 mph wrapping 2500-2700 rpms. (My truck likes that speed!!) In town/mixed driving about 10.6 to 11.6 mpg. Towing my 12,000 lb boat and trailer http://www.superdutydiesel.com/forums/vbpicgallery.php?do=big&p=296 between 70 and 80 about 7.6 to 9 mpg (depending on wind/hills). Towing my 5,500 lb horse trailer empty at 80 to 85 mph 8 to 10 mpg (depending on wind/hills).

06, 3.73 empty on the highway with 2400 miles on her, I got 15.6 on a 400 mile trip. It was about 6 degrees out and windy as a mother in the hills of west virginia, so take that with a grain of salt. Back and forth to work, about 13...

The difference in the way YOUR Dad drives versus the way I drive may be more of a factor than the trucks we drive :)

I NEVER keep it under 2000 rpms and never coast to a red light, etc.. etc...

but I also never buy an 8K lb truck for fuel mileage either:)

the little roller skates that we see next to our wheels are for that :)

Im not innocent of being too light on the pedal either, but I get around 15-16 city 17-19 highway and I have a 4.5" lift kit with 35" tires

And of course, a cummins 6 cylinder will get more mileage than an 8 cylinder

EDIT*: I have a 29 gallon tank with 3.73 gear ratios and 22,500 miles on it

I get about 15.5 on an average tank. That is maybe 75/25 city/highway. I have gotten as low as 12.5 average for a tank.
