The motor is not turning. Is it getting power? The bad motor may have blown a fuse. The shift motors are a part that seems to go out on a regular basis if you use your 4x on a regular basis.

Unfortunately I don't have a tester here but I have somebody that's gonna bring one over on Wed. I will check all the fuses and the module behind the glove box--will let ya know what I find.

It's a new motor--got it from NAPA but that doesn't mean it couldn't have a problem.

This is exactly why I like the manual stick on the floor, and manual hubs.

That's the one thing I really miss with my old F150.....the stick on the floor...it was soooo much easier and I never had a problem gittin' into 4X drive. Didn't have to change the hubs but having that stick was the greatest!!!

when you try and use the heat/ac does it come out of the selected vent or just the defrost vent.

sorry but this would NOT have anything to do w/ the engagement of
the transfer case.

now if the HUBS werent engaging or unlocking THEN youd be on the
right track.

I love it and would take it over the ELSOF anyday. It may be considered a pain in the rear for some, but it avoids problems like this. I would agree 100% with the statement that these stick are the greatest!!

Okay--could you please explain what the AC/heat would have to do with anything if the hubs weren't engaging or unlocking???

And are you saying that I should be able to lock or unlock those hubs manually with no problem??? They are in automatic right now but I have not tried to move them myself.

I took a look at the module under the glove compartment and just eyeballing it, it looks okay but guess it too needs to be tested--tester will be here Wed.

Can't check the fuses tonite--my garage lite/flashlite isn't all that bright. Knew I should have gotten one of those new LED flashlites...:rant gonna do that tomorrow.

the vac. pump (which is mounted under the hood, in the engine bay,
on the passenger side fender)...provides vac. for the ac/heat/defrost
venting as well as for the auto hubs.

if there is a LEAK in the vac lines the ac/heat/defrost DEFAULTS to
the defroster.

when you cant control/direct the vent (ac/heat/defrost) its typically
an indication that youve got a vac. line/pump leak..and its more often
that not a leak at the hub seals which prevent the hubs from locking or
unlocking (automatically).

the HUBS are some what independant of the transfer case... the transfer
case can be engaged w/OUT and the hubs might not BE locked/unlocked.
