    Yes, that is correct. They are referred to as "Upfitter circuits". The wiring is in place between the dash and under the hood. If you search for "Upfitter" or "upfitter switches" you will find lots of info on their location and use.

    do not double post to different forums. all posts merged to here. is your PCM programmed or do you have a chip installed? it is a known feature that if you are chipped and batteries get low, it will be no start condition.

    there were 2 diesel engines that ford used- a 2.2L mazda branded perkins I4 until 85 i think. same perkins block as some smaller marine engines i think. and for a year or two maybe a 2.3L turbo mitsubishi, same as the dodge d50 trucks.
