I have a superchips 1705 programmer, no chip

Blown fuse- What is it?

I found a blown 30 amp fuse under the hood. I don't know what it is. It is located in the fuse box under the hood on the driver side fender area. The inside fuse in the middle row,(three rows of fuses and relays) it is the large fuse type, maybee 1 1/4". Anyone know what it is? Truck quit this morning and wont start>

my wild ash guess- probably the fuel bowl heater circuit that also provides signal to the PCM.

In this situation, the engine will turn over, but not start. And IIRC the needle on the rpm gauge wont bounce duriing the start.

I unlplugged the fuel heater on the side of the filter housing, replaced the fuse and fired it up. Thanks to all of you for your help. Now, what causes this to short out ? Do you guys just leave them unplugged or fix the problem.

the element either goes bad or shorts out against the housing.

iirc, the obs can upgrade to the SD style heater. poke around here to find out. TikiWiki : 94-97 PSD Fuel Heater Upgrade

since you are in MO, you might be able to squeak by for a while w/o it.

you can get the older, heavy duty-ier style heater through Dorman now.. I'm sure any parts house could get it for you..
