I just purchased a 2004 SD Crew diesel. It looks like it was well taken care of with 103K on the clock and totally stock powertrain. I know about the head bolt and egr issues but what are someother things I need to be looking into. I bought without seeing in person and have 3mo/3000m warranty and want to make sure what I have.

If I was a 6.0 owner....that would be my top priority. As far a preventative maintanence....that all I could recommend. Then you could do the power-ups (gauges, exhaust, programmer, **stock intake is good up to 500hp**)

sjr- not sure what your question is exactly. maybe you will get a better response if you re-write it better?

1. did you get any service records with the truck?

2. aside from running a carfax and an oasis report on the VIN at a ford dealer, that is about the best you will be able to do.

a good tech might be able to look around and tell you if there are signs of major work done: was the cab off, hpop fitting changed, egr cooler replaced, etc..

but even if he did, and the answer was yes to any of those, would it be different than if he looked under there and none of those were observed or if the oasis report said the same thing?

Got the report from Ford and looks good as far as upkeep and service. Been picking out some things as I've been driving, but so far nothing major.

EGR's getting removed and exhaust done, studs, and Edge juice platinum.

I would say the EGR and head stud issues are top of the list.. other than that, it's your general, run-of-the-mill gauges, diff covers, brakes, lift, programmer, wheels & tires type of stuff
