I would consider it myself, if your going to be towin, then you don't want your head gaskets blowin'. If it's in the budget, get it done now, and then you don't have to worry. Then if you decide to chip it or something you can anyway. IMO

Air Flow to your SD Turbo???

Honestly Joe, I have never found one that I liked better than a regular paper filter, mostly cause I stopped buying expensive filters like that when the tacoma had all its trouble. But bigger is better I always say. You're pretty good at coming up with a way around bottlenecks, jump in on the...

True sasquatch, IMO studs should be mandatory for these engines. It's not a matter of if, but when. Better to do it when you can choose for youself who does it and where, instead of dealing with someone you don't know in a town you've never heard of before you tried to go there!

Air Flow to your SD Turbo???

I too have seen the results of a k&n first hand, Had one in my tacoma that let so much dirt by it that it would foul the mass airflow sensor! You probably get more air in the motor, but at what cost.

It wasn't you I was worried about, I felt that republican was getting railed on a little bit for his choices. And then I got caught up in it on the other side of the coin.

    Question modded idm

Thanks for the tip stroker, my problem is I've usually got cash flow problems. It all seems to flow into the money pit on wheels(aka peterbilt), instead of fun projects like this. Mostly I just wanted to see if it was something worth looking into doing myself. I believe after talking to you...

    Question Posi rear end

Zookie, I've done quite a bit of 4 wheelin, in jeeps, scouts, and been around several broncos. We all ended up with lockers in our machines for the extra traction, but I will tell you from my experience, there are times when you need to be able to unlock and lock at will. Prfeferably, from inside...

    Question modded idm

All good to know, I'm just wondering though, if potato chips are good for 50 horse, what about doritos-especially the hot ones? Not as much anti-corrosion protection, but they should make up for it with heat! Please respond quickly, as I'm headed to wally-world soon. Just wanna make sure I get...

My point exactly, Big Joe, it's all about the public's perception of what is important. Easy and quick are the name of the game anymore, from home loans, to cars. I grew up in a small town and I had never seen a automatic in a pickup until I had grown up and moved to the big city, except in a...

    Question Posi rear end

This is also true, nothing provides traction as good as a locker except a spool, but most people, me included, wouldn't want the on road characteristics of either while towing down the freeway! The jeep that gets towed behind the truck, well that's another story! ;tu

    Question Posi rear end

Very good Kevin, true-tracs are better than limited slips, but not annoying like lockers! Axle of choice for years before the lockers made it big. :D

I Believe the pollution issue could be debated, I used to be emission certified to test vehicles, and remember some questions in the test pertraining to that very thing. The #1 reason for auto's in pickups, and semi's, is the fact that many more drivers can operate these vehicles, ie women and...

Sorry republican, I got off subject a little on the last post, but wanted to let you know that I purchased my 2000 w/90,000 miles for 18k 1yr ago. But I looked for one w/a stick for a year before that. Be Patient, save some more money to throw in the pot, and don't settle for a car w/a heavy...

Sorry all you "auto" guys, but check out my avatar, and the jury is still out on the 18 wheeler debate. I believe that the reason for the autos in the big trucks have come as a result of the quality of drivers that are available. To many sissies that can't drive with both hands and both feet...

    hub bearings?

Sounds interesting, I thought that these trucks had unibearings, or sealed bearings? In other words there not serviceable. the vacumn actuates the hub inside the wheel bearing assembly, but not through the bearings themselves. I don't think you would do any thing but lube the hub parts really...

    New to Me Truck

Ya I used to pull my 28' bumper pull with my tahoe, till i ran across the scales 1 day and noticed it weighed over 12,000 lbs loaded truck and trailer combined. That's when my sd showed up to take over the towing duties.:drive

    Question modded idm

What's the deal with this idm mod, is it worth the trouble? Watched a video of it on the web, guy was pretty animate that you had to be extremely careful. What does it do exactly? I've searched the forums here, but nobody's talking about this one. Could be good, could be bad....:watchout

Help Needed How to remove F-250 Front Rotors

give 'em hell, then take a rest. Just don't smash your fingers(or your jaw) when they break loose. you won't break these bolts before you break something else, don't be afraid. :teef

    Need to replace wheel bearing

Another thought, Somebody correct me if i'm wrong, but I believe that the dana's had the two wheel bearing nuts w/lock ring? if so you have to be really careful about putting the nuts/lockring back together on reassembly, or your wheel bearing won't stay tight.
