Thanks, when I know its going to stay above 70, Im going to give it a try.... I have 40 gallons sitting in the garage.... gotta love sams....

There was a guy on the news, who runs his VW on all WVO..... If it was not to expensive to do, you can run New oil for just over 1 dollar per gallon....

How much new oil can I add to the diesel, in a 28 gallon tank, in the summer? Can I get to 4-5 gallons...

ISurvived,
I remember reading that specifically with biodiesel there is a problem due to the higher injection pressures of the 6.0 injectors that they began to see some problems but I unfortuantely don't recall the exact nature of the problem or if it carried over to WVO

Ok some searching while reading this is mostly people are trying biodiesel which will polimerize(sp) due to the injection pressures, you're safe up to 80% Bio diesel.

For flow requirements I wouldn't go over a 50% mix so you should be safe dumping 5 gal in a tank of diesel.

It looks like this problem was due to off-spec biodiesel . We have a commercial biodiesel distributor here in Northern California, which tests all the fuel that they sell, and therefore can actually guarantee that their fuel meets 'ASTM-specs'. NONE of their 6.0 customers have reported any problems with biodiesel.
I looked quite closely at the cases where there were problems (in Colorado actually) and it appears to coincide with good evidence that offspec fuel was being sold at the timel (also commercially produced).

I have no idea if this carries over to SVO conversions, though- if anyone knows of someone running an SVO conversion with this engine I"d really like to know about it. I dont' always read all the SVO threads in this forum or TDS so I might miss it.
