Where to buy 2008 differential cover?

Now I'm gonna have to check, because I thought I saw mobil 1 75/140...

Problem with the polycarbonate cover is it will transfer about 1/10 of what the steel cover would. You're really gonna cook the oil then. Plastic generally as a rule is a horrible conductor of heat. That's why it's such a ***** to machine.

Walmart only sells 80W90. :(

I am assuming that 18,000 miles is enough time to break in things (diff, engine, etc.) and I want to switch over to synthetics for a long healthy life.

Is Royal Purple gear oil really purple in color?

Yes, it is.

I got lucky on the rear diff. fluid when I had my '08 cover installed.

Yes, I had someone do it for me, no time to do it myself.
So my buddy that works at the Ford dealer put it on for me (20.00),
plus he had plenty of new 75W140 oil left over from other jobs and didn't charge me for it.

just on a side note... a finned surfacen usually at least triples the surface area of the piece

In theory yes, it's not that synthetic is so much more "slick" it just doesn't break down until much higher temperatures.

But that said, I still wouldn't put that additive garbage in there. Unless it chatters when you put the new fluid in, and it bugs you, I'd leave it out, and I plan to do just that when I change my cover.
