Ok this is a tuff one and need some help from ya'll. I have been trying to sell my boat for the past 2 months. Tonight I had a person approach me with a on a trade. He has a 02 or 03 Pontiac Trans Am that is a true 9sec drag car. The car has a full roll cage and is running 10.5 slicks. He is also giving me the car hauler trailer with it. Full diamond plated trailer. I have seen the car run and is very clean. I am selling my boat for 20,000 and he said that he has put 25,000 to 30,000 into the motor. I know that it is hard to sell a boat right now because of winter. If you were in my shoes what would you do? Thanks for the help. Does anybody know what these cars would sell for?

that car will be even more of a money pit than the boat is. i would keep the boat or sell it for hard cash no trades.

a drag car is a bottomless pit.

a boat can suck up lots of money also. but yours looks to be in very nice shape. and it is something that more than just one person can enjoy.even a street rod would be more fun for family or girlfriend than a 9 second race car.

a drag car can turn a 30,000 dollar engine into spair parts in less than 10 seconds. watch out.

CASH is KING.

Well just from my years of experience,
1) Just because he might have that much in in motor doesent mean it is worth that much.
2) Cars of that caliber can go either way. If someone in the know looks at it they might offer you half of what you want or some kid with too much of daddys money might take it at any price. Its a gamble in a small market like that as get what you would get and how long it might take.
3) Do you know anything about this type of car and is it usefull to you?
4) Do you NEED the money now?

If you need the money now and/or cant use the car the I would say keep the boat and wait for a buyer who wants to pay for it instead of trade/barter for it. :2c

I'm with Bama. Spring comes around soon enough and you will have some willing buyers then. Why get something you don't need in exchange for your boat? You are trading one money pit for another.

Well it's a 5 to one saying don't take the car, and I am sure others will also say the same.

heres my serious thinking side.if it were me i would take the car.youre also getting the trailer with the car.

dump the car and keep the trailer.should be able to get at least 15K for the car.this is what i would do as that car would sell fairly quick around here, then id use the trailer to haul my quads and other stuff around with.but then again a 9 second car on the street comes into my mind again.:D

Go to www.racingjunk.com That's where I sold my 63 Chevy II SS. Take a look at how many cars are there for sale. Sign up it's free. Then add some similar car/trailer combinations to your favorites. Go back in a week or two and see how many are still there. Drag cars are hard sells. Most people prefer to make their own, or at least build their own drive train. You'll also see a lot of rolling chassis on there. Sell the boat
