Some Ford dealers assume that if you have gauges installed you also must have a tuner/program'er with it and will refuse to work on the truck.
I pull a big 5th wheel and just want to know what's going on with egt's temps, and trans temp that sort of thing. I'm a grandpa for heaven sake not a racer...

What else is next?

Merry Christmas from my house to yours:wave

8 out of 10 times there right.

I would just tell them look at the pcm, its not hard to tell if its been chipped.

Then I would say " If you morons put gauges in that worked I wouldnt have had to"

:laugh

Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Moss Magnuson Warrenty Act

US Code - Title 15, Chapter 50, Sections 2301-2312

Legally, a vehicle manufacturer cannot void the warranty on a vehicle due to an aftermarket part unless they can prove that the aftermarket part caused or contributed to the failure in the vehicle (per the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act (15 U.S.C. 2302(C)) . For best results, consider working with performance-oriented dealerships with a proven history of working with customers. If your vehicle manufacturer fails to honor emission/warranty claims, contact EPA at (202) 260-2080 or www.epa.gov. If federal warranty protection is denied, contact the FTC at (202) 326-3128 or www.ftc.gov.

Bushpilot, Thanks for the warranty web site info. It looks like what I need.

I find that some dealership service writers and service managers are even refusing to work on any truck they think have been modified. Right at the service lane they say no go. I personally don't think these people can do this.
does anyone know differently?

Pete obviously they can...and for all we want to beleive in the Moss
Act itll cost you plenty in legal fees (and a rental car while your truck is
down) fighting it out.

the dealers cant keep the techs for all the warrenty work (at less than
half their normal rate...not to mention ford shorts 'em hours to do the work).

if it were a repair issue they wouldnt do the work even for CASH...but
thats just it the majority of these shops are run by sharks trying to
inflate the ATP (average ticket price).

they trade on FEAR...and the bulk of the general public buy off on it
thinking they have no other choice.

go to another dealer...and share the GOOD & BAD dealer experiances
w/ everyone you know...THAT is your best defense !

just from my own personal exp. the dealer i use will do the mods for you if you want. they will work on any make or model of car, doesn't matter to them.

i have seen them put in a new engine in a toyota. they want the work, and there shop does a lot of business.

if your truck is turned up or bone stock, makes no diff. to them. its just another vehicle to work on.

I feel the need to throw my :2c in.

First off the Moss/Magnuson warranty act is a joke and will always will be, and this is why. Suppose your tranny takes a dump on a vehicle that is still under warranty. You have it towed to the dealer and they see gauges, big tires, a trailer ball (it really doesn't matter), but for whatever the reason, they deny your warranty repair. So what is your next move? Call the police and say the dealership is in violation of the Moss/Magnuson law? Yea, right!!:roflmao :haha :lmao :roflmao The only recourse you have is to hire a lawyer and go to court. Ford, Dodge, GM, whoever, has 100 times as many lawyers than you could ever hope to afford. And their only reason for living is to make it as expensive as possible for you to win your case. And they are banking on the plaintiff giving up due to legal costs long before it goes to the jury. It'll cost you many times more in legal fees than the cost of the transmission repair to begin with.

Secondly, if a service manager says "we're not going to perform warranty repairs on your vehicle because we don't like the gauges and seat covers you put in it", I don't think waiving a Moss/Magnuson threat is in your best interest. Do you really want them to work on your truck after you've made such a threat? Myself, I wouldn't trust such a dealership to do even a half assed job or even go within a 100' of my truck.

The best thing you can do is just leave and find another dealer that will treat you fairly and squarely.

Like I said, just my :2c .

Like any place... They reserve the rite to refuse service to any one....... I reserve the rite to never purchase their product again. They are not the only Butcher on the block.... Kinda helps explain why GM and DC are gaining ground in the Light/Med truck segment.... with dare I say it Toyota catching up...

I'm glad my local dealer is okay with such things as guages, lifts, etc.

Today I went in for a battery for the wife's Focus. They had a brand new F-250 with a lift kit and other mods for sale. Blacked out chrome, special seating, etc. I think they sent it to a customizer before delivering it to the dealership.

Ya want to talk about rediculous dealers. About a month ago I had a problem with my horn, it kept going off. Before I go any further let me say this. When I bought my truck none of the local dealers had the truck I wanted on the lot So I bought my truck about 40 miles Away at a dealer in a different state. Anyways I take it to my local dealer and I walk up to him and say.. " I have a problem with my truck and was wondering if you could take a look at it" the guy asks me " Did you buy the truck here?" i said no then he says " Well if you didn't buy it from here then we won't even look at it" I said " What do you mean you won't look at it" then he says " Look kid I am real busy take it where you bought it and get lost". That pissed me off and now I will never go to that dealership for anything cause there managers are totoal screww offs.
