"I let Larry H Miller Ford in Provo, UT install a factory rebuilt 4R100 HD transmission with the 3 yr unlimited mileage warranty. Best deal running on a Saturday morning"

How good of a deal was it? (how much $?)

Did they also put in the Ford HD Torque Converter with the forged turbine hub and solid billet cover? (extra cost option, not included with the HD4R100)

How many miles on your original 4R100?

Well it all began when I started it up this morning.....

It started fine and I drove it home from work. :) No problems!

Gotta love a 7.3L. Very very little complaining from my truck.

The 1/2" plate is just the two hangers from the frame. The rest of the steps are the handrail tube (and a couple of gussets out of some 1/4" ? I had laying around). I've got some pics on my phone, but don't have way to get them on computer. Maybe I'll bum a digi camera. They're not 7' long either, more like 3 1/2', just under the doors. Lot simpler and less heavy than what you're envisioning. Thanks tho...I'll try and get some pics up.

Ah, ok. thanks for clarifying. The 1/2" plate was for the brackets, not the boards. The handrail is the "nerf bar". And you have a regular cab it seems.

You're right, I was envisioning a crew cab with 7 foot long running boards made up of 1/2" steel plate, cantilevered some 20 inches outboard of the frame rails. The ultimate side impact car slicer.

My imagination was influenced by the Excursion running boards that I put on my crew cab, which, at 84", are only a few inches longer than the production crew cab running boards.

Rear brakes and rotors and fuel filters while I was dirty anyway. Also had another #4 glow plug error that cleared and came back once and the stayed gone after clearing a second time. Checked my amp draw (about 35 amps per side). Thinking I must have an intermittent harness.

Started to mod the dually. Got the air bags and air tank installed. Also got a set of flush mount LEDs that I am going to mount in the rear bumper. I just need to work up the nerve to cut two 3" square holes in the bumper.:CRAZY

FWIW ??? I deleted the OEM 3 light thingy under the T-gate.. mounted 5 red LED's.. spaced like the roof mounts. Used a step drill to do the holes ?

Great project Joe. I like to keep em simple at our age. I hope my days of rebuilding an engine are behind me.

Nice idea! That is the same thing I did on my SRW F-250:
