Posting this for someone I know. Anyone heard or know about this? In 19000 miles I have gotten the water in fuel light one time.
I am curious if anyone else is having this problem. I have a 6.0 powerstroke, twice in 48,000 miles I could not get the water in fuel light to go off after draining the water from fuel. The first time Ford told me I had to drain the water each month whether the light had come on or not. They replaced one of the switches. The second time it happened I went to Ford in Jacksonville, Fl. and they told me the switch didn't have to be changed but there would be a wax build up in the drain area and they would show me how to clean it. Cleaning involves taking the whole fuel filter system off the frame under the drives door and taking it apart and washing all the wax out of the switch area with spray brake cleaner. I couldn't believe how much wax was in that area, they told me I should figure on doing this about every 15,000 miles if I didn't want to have trouble out on the road. Just wondering if anyone else is having this problem and if there was another solution to repairing without taking the filter off the truck and then taking it all apart.
