Hey guys it looks like im gonna buy a powerstroke this summer and i really want to get one with the 6.0 in it. i was torn between this and a duramax but just like the ride of the superduty better. i know on the duramax the 8th digit in the vin number told u what duramax motor you had (lb7,LLY,LBZ) but is there a way on the strokes to tell??? Im more than likely goin used. thanks :sweet

you could look at your gas gauge, if you got 4.30's on there then you can watch the gas gauge go down as soon as it leaves a light

if you got 3.73's, you can see it go down a notch every other light

kidding ya

Most of the trucks have 3.73's in em, but if you have no idea, if you still have the window sticker, it should tell you, i know it tells me i got a 3.73 on it

Plus, im sure Ford could always chime in on it

little metal tag attached to the rear end cover.

My truck was born in Kentucky...wonder if the truck driver picked up some good ol' fried chicken while haulin my truck here, then of course rubbed his greasy paws all over it

I finally remembered to crawl under and look. I saw a tag that had "4.10" on it.

In a recent article of Diesel Power magazine, they really spoke highly of the newest Duramax (LBZ I think)... and how well it performed and how quiet it was.... worth looking at that motor!!!!

Good luck on whatever you decide.
