This morning when I put the key in the bell range as usual (ding ding ding etc.).
Turned the key on for glow plugs, warning lights on, ding-ding-then "ready" ding - everything normal so far.
Turn the key on to start - one slow crank then a couple of clicks and warning lights flash off and on momentarily - then nothing. Just like a dead battery.
Turn the key off.
Turned the key on for glow plugs - warning lights flick on momentarily then off - no ding-ding-ding.
Turn the key off - Something under the dash starts clicking like the ding-ding-ding but it's a click-click-click.
Remove key - click keeps on going. Key back in - click keeps going.
Tried starting several times - nothing but the click-click-click.
Remove key - click keeps on going.
Turn headlights on - click turns into ding again.
Turn headlights off - ding stops.
Put key back in - ding is back as normal - glowplugs/dash warning lights as normal - truck cranks as normal and starts fine.
Several more tries - everything normal.
Unfortunately my batteries are out in my voltage meter too so checking batteries, etc. was not possible.
Maybe a coincidence, but the night before I changed a rear brake caliper and pads all around with the associated bleeding proceedure. The hood was open for quite awhile with the underhood light on.
I did start and move the truck after the brake job.
Batteries are less than 2-months old.
I'm at a loss - Any ideas?
