They checked the coolant for combustion gases and none and they pressure checked the EGR and nothing. Under the hood is as clean as it was when I bought the truck new in 04.

My truck is an 04 it doesn't have the Degas bottle that came on the 05. I looked for it reading some other threads. I was told by the dealership that they thought I was over boosting it. I have the edge insight that reads PID of the ECM and a Pyro. It said 27lbs of boost. Not sure but that doesn't sound high to me. I could be that I just not finding the Degas bottle. I have found twice now that the coolant Res. has been a gal to 2 gal. low.

what do you mean you dont have the 05 degas bottle on your 2004...
theyre all the same.

you should NOT fill the coolant degas bottle above the "low mark"...
you should ignore the YEARS mentioned on the tsb...the TSB applies
to every 6.0L

if youve been pushing coolant out the cap you WILL have white crusty
deposits on the coolant degas bottle and below...perhaps even on
the valve cover...look at the area UNDER the coolant degas bottle....

27lbs is typical boost...i see 30-32lbs (stock) !

becareful...the dealers comment about "over boosting" could be
a sign that hes setting up to void your warranty...certainly its
an indication that he thinks you have a "performance enhancing" tuner.

if youre not running a tuner or havent recently removed the tuner your
dealer should check the KAM (keep alive memory) and note the number
of engine starts since the KAM was reset...the maximum number of
recorded starts is 200+ (the dealer may choose to clear the memory
too).

I will not be going back to Delong Ford in Winnemucca. They tryed to put my truck on the void warranty list but I picked up my truck before they could get ahold of the Reginal maneger.

I have no crusty white stuff around the cap or under it. I was guessing that the engine was eating it somewhere. The coolant check out fine for combustion gases. The head gaskets are fine as well.

then my only suggestion is that you fill to the "minimum" mark (not
the full mark)...then keep a close eye on it.

makes me wonder what the motivation of the dealer was...void the
warranty even though nothing was wrong w/ the truck ? (fwiw dealers
dont get paid as MUCH, either by $ rate or hours allowed to repair,
when performing in-warranty work)

installing a coolant by-pass filter wont hurt, and could go a long way to
filtering out the casting & stop leak in the engine (making the coolant
level easier to read).

worst that can be said is the coolant filtration COULD extend the life of
the water pump. It also might prevent restricted coolant flow (via
build up) thru the oil cooler and egr cooler.

rbrutsman-

i think you are missing the point here. go back and look at my previous post (the one w/ the pictures). THAT IS the degas bottle (aka - the over-flow tank) all vehicles have it. take a look at the 'new sticker' marking the proper fill location. and as for your comment on trying to 'locate' the by-pass - bushpilot is referring to an aftermarket add-on which helps filter out any impurities.

this is not meant to rip on you - just hopefully clear up a few misunderstandings...;tu

fwiw: i would shop for another dealer and you are indicating certain symptoms that i had and were resolved after head gasket surgery....:sorry
