Degas Bottle
You cant just shim the bottle. The tech. that has my truck now explained it to me like this.
When the head gaskets go in these trucks it builds compression in the cooling system and it expands the degas bottle and blows it up like a balloon. If you keep driving the truck for any length of time the bottle eventually bursts at the seam around the bottle. Once it expands with heat there is no going back the bottle needs to be replaced.
Two of the trucks that were in for the same thing the bottle actually exploded and antifreeze was all over the engine compartment.
I just put that info on there to let people know that is one thing that you can look for to see if the head gaskets are starting to go. The bottle it self does not lean it is the cap that looks like it is leaning towards the front of the truck.
That means the bottle is building more pressure than it can handle and that is where the whistle is coming from and sooner or later in will come apart at the seam.
About being a little bitter, I am, I paid alot for this truck and you would be bitter too. Everyone on this site paid alot of money for their truck. Believe me when I say these trucks can run like crazy when they run, but unfortunatly some people got bum motors. I am sorry for stating the facts but I have seen 6 trucks in the same dealership two weeks ago that had the same exact problem.
Sorry for being honest......
