hey guys, i will be entering my first truck pull next weeknd and wanted to ask a few questions befor i go at it. First i will give the overview of my Rig. 03 F-250 6.0 with 4" exhaust, intake, 35" tires, Egr delete, Edge platinum with Hot unlock code, and auto trans. So the questions are. 1. What gear should use? my buddy pulls with his f250 with the v10 and starts in 4wheel low 2nd gear, i was assuming with the extra power i could use 3rd? whats your thoughts? 2. on the programmer should i shut off the back down for the pull? or what EGT should i start to worry at? or dont worry at all? i guess thats all i got, any other tips and tricks and advice i would be greatfull for.

I talked to a guy on youtube that has a vid of his truck pulling. He has a "Pull" tune on his chip...and if I understood correctly, the truck starts out in 1st and then shifts to 2nd which is how the tune was set-up. His truck was a 00 7.3 with swamps injectors, adrenaline oil pump, chip, 4" exhaust, billet tc. So I would say you would want to go no higher than 2nd gear imo.

I've pulled a couple of times and if your tranny shifts like mine it will start in the gear you select. I would just let it shift on its own or if you want start in 1 and shift manually. I know mine was at least in 3rd if not a higher gear but had such bad wheel hop in the front that after about the third time trying it I gave up for fear of breaking something. I ran low range and the bigest program I had. You are only pulling hard for a short time so even if it gets over 1200 egt it will cool off quick.
