Last week comin' home from the airport I felt the
truck ever so slightly "shutter & buck"...the tow-haul
light flashed a couple of times and everything was
fine.

comin' home from the airport again tonight and the
truck "studdered" and the two haul light flashed again...

almost like i can make it do it...around 45/50mph w/
light / steady throttle....and the converter is locked

I seem to recall that a couple of y'all have had tow/haul
lights flash...is this simular to your experiances ?

Ill scan the thing for codes in the morning.

any luck with a code? a shudder and buck in a tranny is a scary thing. I have had many a older Tbird or cougar with FMX or C-4 trannys that when they did that, they were done. of course I could swap one in an afternoon and I usually got it for free or less than $50.00

havent been able to thoroughly scan for codes...generic odbII shows
nothing.

Ive got so damm many computers i cant find the laptop that i last
activated AE on...and my AE cd isnt being read by the laptop that i
WANT to install it on.

if i had to bet <based on the trans temp i saw> from the factory
gauge, id blame that right now....this morning the truck had only
been running about 5min and the factory gauge was in the mid point
(where the aftermarket autometer wasnt even reading 100*)

I think it is ussually the temp sender in the trans. Mine was a different problem (with different symptoms) where the dealer had to replace the wiring harness and the sender.

They blamed it on the wiring harness and i told them that i thought it was the sender only becuase of other expierences i was seeing on the web so i asked them to replace it as well.

Mine not only had the lights on but it would not shift into overdrive, it also had shifting problems because it was in tow/haul with no load so it was shifting funny (as expected).

my bill was about $900 but i never had a problem after that.

You'd win that bet, Bush. The factory temp sensor will eventually lock it into tow / haul mode until its replaced. My first one went at about 75k.

Inside the transmission. I did mine over 2 years ago. Gotta drain and drop the pan. I forget all the details, but I did my first one in the drive way.

I dont think the sending unit is that expensive. You know about contacting Steve on SVTP to get the part at cost +10%. Not sure how much this is affecting your trucks drivability.
