I'll bet you grew up in town -popcorn
I grew up a lot like this. I was born in 83 though. My nearest neighbor was 1/4 mile away and she was 70 some years old.
My best friend lived 1/2 mile away and when we were 11 or 12 we wore a path along the road with our go-karts. Mine had a roll cage and his didn't. Used to race around the patch of trees at my house or around his yard all the time. "Rubbin's racing" was our motto. Cut me off and I'll dump you over. Cut a corner short and you're going head on into a tree (that was his "famous move"). Yes, we wore helmets. We'd break them then fix em. That was the fun. My dad even got in on the fun every now and then. He was the only one to actually roll ours all the way over and back on its wheels. That was playing his game of dodgeball using tennis balls and the go kart. Man those were fun times.
It's amazing to me, really. I live in a fraternity house with 20 other guys (ages 18-23). I'm about the only one that grew up outside of the city. Most of them can sit there and play video games for hours on end. They can't wait for the next coolest game to come out so they can skip a day of classes and play it all the way through. Then it goes on the shelf because the next game is already out. I absolutely hate living in the city because there is so little to do. In the country, we live simple and do whatever we want, whenever we want.
