I've heard tell that some people noticed no difference whatsoever
when they ran their truck with or without the cat in place. My
concern is if leaving my cat in place, will I suffer higher egt's?
Will my hp/tq numbers decrease? I have a 5" exhaust system
that allows me the ability to remove or keep the cat in. If the
benefits are minimal I'd rather leave it in due to obvious warranty
issues. If anyone has any real life numbers on cat in or out I'd
greatly appreciate it.

Shawn:thanks

I have seen no proof on running quicker without the CAT. As for the EGT's it will not make any difference as the CAT is so far down the line as not to be any hinderence on the temperatures.

Another vote for CAT in. They do not restrict flow, and they do help keep our air cleaner (while not quite as beneficial on a diesel as they are on a gasser, every little bit helps) and if it ain't hurting anything (which it ain't) then don't mess with it.

All of that stuff is on there for a reason, and we all have to do our part. I know I sound like a hippy, but it is sort of true...

I dunno, I'm gonna wait till I have inspection to worry to even THINK about it

I like the deep throaty sound right now, I don't want something that everybody thinks sounds like crap, I like handsome (hard to believe from my rear taillights), not the rig that everybody hates to be their neighbor

So, other than the sound, it would seem that there is no difference
in performance or temps. I suppose it would be easy to just leave it
in and if I don't like the sound, take it out. Thanks for your input guys.
And I have never seen a hippy with the name Hoss!!:roflmao
Hey Brent, on a side note what size is your lift?
Thanks,

I left the cat on with my mbrp 4" system
as far as a concern about restrictive. I shined my mag lught righ through it to the other side, it was dark but didnt appear to be an issue, sort of looked like a big bug screen.
and i agree , we got to breath here, so lets do the right thing to keep our air clean and change the perception that diesels are bad ugly polluting machines. THEY are not.

Ran mine with both cat in and out. No difference in performance. EGT couldnt tell ya, dont have my gauges yet. However, you want your truck loud and proud? Take the kitty out. Fall in love with the sound of big bad truck.
