ok well i found the differences.and it is very simple to mod the 95 cover to use the 96-up HPOP.all you need is a 96-up reservoir, the reservoir gasket to go with it,a drill bit and a dremel with a carbide burr, self tapping screw, red loctite,a chisel and rags and brake cleaner.no need for an accumulator tank or swapping covers.

ill have pictures tomorrow,i forgot to grab the camara this morning.

Where does one get his hands on a 96+ reservoir? I am BIG TIME interested in this as I still have my SD pump laying on the bench in the garage.

probably ebay mike but its more than just swapping the reservoir.you gotta drill a hole, plug a hole and half ass machine a gasket groove, use the 96-up reservoir gasket as the 95 uses half gasket/half rtv.ill have pictures from mine tomorrow with a write up that will hopefully be wiki worthy

Do you think RTV would work in place of trying to machine a gasket groove? We're not talking much pressure in that location. The drilling of one hole and plugging of another is pretty elemetary stuff.

it probably will be fine but the hole you need to drill isnt that big and may get blocked by the rtv

Maybe I'm missing something, but is this something that can be done without pulling the cover (and that I think means pull the engine)?

If so you may be on to something cool. It seems like a lot of people don't look forward to all that work just to put on a late model pump without drainback issues.

Thats why I'm pretty excited about this, I've got the 17° SD pump laying around awaiting install, I just dont want to deal with the drainback issues and dont want to add an oil accumulator to bain-aid it either. I really think this could be the ticket here.

Yep. I am glad I have a 96, I don't really like band-aid fixes like that accumulator setup. Not that it won't get the job done but I don't like the extra stuff when the motor should, or can, be able to get by without it.
