I was wanting some of your thoughts. I am looking at a 02 f250 with 44k miles and it has the 7.3l motor or an 03 f250 with the 6.0l motor with 56k on it. They are about the same price. I had a dealer do an oasis report on both and nothing came back on either. 02 vin# 1ftnw21f42ec99971 03 vin# 1ftnw21p93ec30915 They are both salvage title so I will not have any warrinty, I have heard to stay away from the first 6.0l motors. If I was to get one of them I would like to build it some and I would be using the truck mainly for pulling a 5th wheel. Would like to know what you all would go with and your thoughts..

Thanks

I would stay away from an 03 6.0 but I would also stay away from salvage titles too.

Absolutely go with the 7.3 2002. But make sure you know about the reason for salvage on either truck.

Ditto that. The first couple of years for the 6.0 were about the biggest disaster any major manufacturer ever had with a new engine. It was a warranty nightmare.

Ditto x2.
Definately buyer beware, it could be a Katrina truck that was under water for a prolonged time or something.

My '02 7.3 has been a real joy. Now have ball joint issues soon to be corrected, but I don't consider that to be anything unusual. Has either original factory joints or factory replacements.

thanks so far for the input. I was thinking stay away from the eairly 6.0's. As for the salvage title, the trucks were stolen, seats missing in one and a few dints in the other. My dad has a bodyshop, that is the way I have gotten my vehicles in the past. Lot cheaper way to get into vehicles just have to deal with no warranty.

They are a lot of Katrina truck around so be very careful. I have a 06 6.0 and love it. It has the power to pull my fifth wheel just fine.
Good luck an I hope you come back often.
