OK, as Robert said "Back to our regularly scheduled post"; TG do you just take one class (plus the weapons qualifier) to get the CHL? My wife and I are considering it also.
wayne
the guy over in tyler, Lock and load 145.00 ( in door range)
has the 10 hr day ( class plus lunch) , you must be proficient with the weapn before hand, they teach the state certified class, ( a policeman does )
they help you fill out all the required paperwork to go to austin, you provide the money order (150 if i remember right) and stamped envelope, you must pass the profieciency exam and target aquistion and subsequent hitting of said targets
i plan to do the feb class,
they also provide weapons ( small fee) if you dont have one yet or want to try out several modles prior to purchase
he also explained the bit about anyone in texas can carry a concealed and loaded handgun in their vehicle and its legal, sooooo if your not in a rush, go practice then take the class, odds are the guy next to you in traffic is LOADED
, ( another reason not to go to dallas)
the law also is in your favor (according to our sherriff in quitman) if you have the class, the permit, when or if a questionable incident arises.
if i had a relative in law enforcement i would see about using their range and facilities to practice.
when we were in jville the sheriffs office let folks do that if they went through the community policing classes he held. sure wish wood county had that same provision, i need to brush up. a few ranges here have good deals on year passes to the range, like unlimited use for 300 a year,
