This is an '01 F250 w/7.3 PS and auto trans with 116,000 miles.
At work today I jumped in my truck to go to the store and a couple miles down the road I noticed loss of power ,roughness and looked down and the SES light was on. I limped back to work and parked it . Checked the oil and visual and see nothing wrong. I went out and started it about 2 hrs later and the light was off. So I drove it a few miles and it seemed to be ok.So I parked it back at work. Finished the day and hopped in to go home. Cranked it up and the SES light came back on. Ran bad all the way home.
I have a generic type OBII code reader and it shows no error codes when I hook it up. Should'nt there be a code stored with the light on? Or is there a special reader or scanner needed on the Powerstroke engine?
Can anybody give me an idea what they think the problem might be?
Thanks
